What will happen with SYSTM / SUF after the last round of layoffs?

All that seems like a lot of work if something else just works without a problem. Do you find the chest strap more accurate than the watch?

@Heretic Definitely - the watch has a lot of drop outs for me especially if I am lifting weights or mountain biking but I even have issues on the trainer at times.

Agreed!

I have never had a drop out problem with my Garmin watch.

Nor have I, but I’ve had the same experience with the chest straps.

One thing I realized when riding one of the On Locations (for the Sept challenge) is that those and the Week With series are ones that Wahoo can own outright: there’s no footage or soundtrack licenses/royalties to deal with. I don’t know much that helps the bottom line, but it’s a nice trick they pulled.

Personally, I’ve found I can repeat OL and AWW rides every 6 months without them feeling stale. And having the RGT Magic Roads for OL is nice, I’ve done a few of those as well.

My annual subscription is up for renewal in October. I am an old SUF user and dip in and out of Systm depending on my goals and training needs. Especially when recovering from illness and operations. Its a great resource, more than that, for reasons we are all aware of. And i have been happy to pay for it. But the loss of people so important to what i value about the buisness that somehow didnt seem like a buisness, has me thinking now may be time to leave. I had hopes for RGT integration and community style rides training ala Zwift but thats not going to happen. The greater emphasis on z2 work in training generally and knowing, through years of use, what type of intervals i need to do to target improvements in different types of fitness means i can get that elsewhere. I love group workouts in zwift. I just have to choose the right ones. I still have many of the old Suff videos so i can continue to use them too.
I would really like to see a statement or input on the forum about next steps for Systm and how they hope to recover/build on the loss of Neil and Dave.

Good point there. It’s been totally quiet from official Wahoo channels.

They did make an official ‘joint’ announcement with Zwift. SYSTEM X is staying.

Only 3 coaches left!! Mac, Andy and Cory. Neal for me was the face behind Wahoo, such a pity they have decided that his services and experience are no longer needed. What do you reckon he will do now?

Sir Neal always has and I’ve no doubt will continue to coach professional athletes. Their Apex Coaching business still appears to be operating.
Hope they all remain in secure employment, am sure they will, they’re some of the top cycling coaches.

Sir Neal remains very much in demand. He coached quite a few people to World Class level.

@ozmadman Where are you getting that info?

does this have something to do with a new direction? It’s pretty vague…

Is something going down in the US tomorrow, or will the rest of the world be treated to a surprise early December?

@TrapMeSuf This reminds me of this May article and quote:

Still, Wahoo did drop one tantalising clue by saying the brands primary categories are trainers, computers, pedals, and “something new”.

@jmckenzieKOS Exactly - he has owned APEX coaching for 20+ years which he founded in 1999.

A rocker plate?

He updated his LinkedIn with and end date at Wahoo of September 2023.

@MartijnL Right but the comment infers he was let go - do we know that or did he decide to leave? That was why I was asking.

The reporting by Escape Collective’s James Huang (linked in the first post) is that these were layoffs. Nobody is mentioned by name on the podcast, but James does make a reference to somebody he knows being let go which I presume is Neal.
