Which SYSTM Moments Light You Up?

The model is a good example of a video that had the really good quality feel. It was put together so well and felt like a lot of care had gone into it. I liked the original ending with the sprint finish at La Course between Diegnan and Vos. As with many of the remasters it’s not that the new version is bad, it just hasn’t quite got that certain je ne sais quoi, that makes it excellent. With some of the best made videos it felt like the makers had gone to great lengths to find the perfect footage to fit the workout, then matched the music to that footage, rather than just working with whatever footage they had and overlaying some decent music.

I thought the remaster of The Model was for only one set of the 4 sets? Was there more?

The last set is definitely different. I had a quick watch of it this morning as couldn’t remember which bits had changed. The last set is no longer the finish of La Course, but a mountain TT at the Tour de Suisse. Fine, but not as exciting.

That’s what I thought. Hopefully it also gets the re-remaster treatment. :folded_hands:

@emacdoug I have to concur, sir! And what really set off the motivation for that final 4-8 minutes was when, with 10:44 to go, “This Is It. The Final Act. Show No Weakness.” came across the screen along with the music pop. Stuff like this should have never been taken out of the remaster INHO. Every thing about that last 10 minutes always seemed to motivate and push you just that little extra bit….

And then, with 2:31 to go, this along with the music, gives tou that final motivation and edge push harder all the way to the line….

Yes, exactly. That finish was epic. Never failed to pump me up no matter how burnt my legs felt.

There is one interval that stands out for me, the first one in The Bat where you are a time trialist. The music is pounding, it looks like you are seriously cruising, the helicopter is following you, it’s so motivating!

The humor, music, and “Sufffffer! You’re gonna do it!!!” in the now killed Joyride is what keeps me subscribing to the genius that is the Sufferfest.

Totally agree about The Model, especially the seen at the beginning where the track drops and it shows the cobweb covered “pain cave” light.

For me, the perfect soundtrack is the biggest impact. Some good examples are The Model, Power Station (btw, the re re mastered version is really good in my opinion), or thin air. The start of “The Mountain” in thin air is a perfect example. Despite the video not being as great in the remaster, the song just hits perfect to get you going for the climb. In my opinion, I would rather have a lackluster video with a killer soundtrack than the other way around. Obviously, there is nothing that beats having a killer video, with awesome on screen messages, and a killer soundtrack to go with it.

For me it has to be the music from the last 6.00min interval in The Chores. Admittedly, it is my go to genre of music, but even so, Be With You by Har Megiddo is just such a fantastic track and fits so well with the images of the chaotic team time trial. The break and drop with 2.15 to go couldn’t be better timed and keeps me pushing strong till the end of a brilliant workout

Yes! This is a great one. Golden Hour by Thomas Schumacher. I have that in my favorites workout songs playlist. And that time trial section is awesome.

Am I the only SUF user who doesn’t listen to the music? Except for “Hunted” and “Angels” I don’t even bother to put in my earbuds any longer. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I’ve tried but sadly found the music to be distracting, except for “Sir Standsalot” and Nicole and other rides with dialog. I’ll have to try once more, feels like I’m missing some good tunes.

I loathe some of the music but can never remember which ones so I end up listening to them again. Iirc, HHNF had a bunch of the tunes I didn’t like.

Music for me, in SUF is pretty much hit and miss with the more recent SUF vids (via Sir Francois) being the best for me. As it stands, I’d still rather have the music on as even if any particular tune isn’t my jam, it’s not gonna last forever and the next one is usually better. And, even on the ones I’m not fond of, the tempo usually matches the effort so I just suck it up and consider it part of the suffering  I am also one of those that has a whole bunch of SUF music downloaded outside of SUF that I just love and can listen to any time

Its always the stupid Sufferfest stuff because I am essentially a child

Seeing Butter being spread on a slice of bread or melting on some corn really distracts me from the pain and gets me working.

The conversations in the car on Do As You Are Told

The laser goats - they are a part of daily life now!

For me, the “best bits” are the suff humour - the audience laughing when I want to stop after three efforts in Defender, the “join the couchlandrians” in Power Station, the Boxhill Ascent music video and the wonderful archive Pathe news stuff dropped in here and there - or at least that’s what I think I saw through these bleeding eyes.

It’s that self depreciating, left field humour and great video clips that matter to me.

So more Suff stuff & heritage and strong story lines!
