Work still needs to be done on the 'intelligence'

I know there have been lots of comments on the (in theory) intelligence built in to the system, but this is a new one. I logged on, and having no ride scheduled, it made a recommendation:

[removed dec31.2024] Earth Cycles Series: Episode 5

So it is suggesting I do a ride that no longer exists. Maybe they will have this up to par with other platforms right after they release the new Sufferfest gear???

I think the idea is that you have to ride so fast you ride in to the past? :joy: :joy:

Is that like Superman flying opposite to the earth’s rotation to go back in time?

Exactly that except he’s riding a bike.

I got exactly the same issue today when I started up the app. Wish I’d saved a screenshot but didn’t, so I don’t remember which ride it was. But stated clearly right alongside the recommendation that it had been removed on 12/31/24 and no longer available.

To ADD to the need for better “intelligence,” the app also makes little sense as to what workouts it suggests, and clearly errs as to what it says about my last 7 days rides.
It has stated that I’ve only done 2 hard workouts in last 7, “so here’s another one” and suggests something “hard.”
When this happened a few days ago, I chalked it up to the app ignoring all of “last” week and starting new as of (Sunday? Monday?)
But then I got the same nonsense again TODAY, after doing a THRESHOLD ride Saturday, On Location: Nice to Menton, then completing Full Frontal on Monday (VO2Max), followed by a THRESHOLD ride Tuesday, On Location: Gran Canaria: Serenity.
Needless to say, I did not need another hard ride today. (Garmin devices begged me to take a rest day, which I ignored to get in a Zone2 ride, Georgia On My Bike.)

I usually ignore any suggested workouts on SYSTM because they rarely seem like good choices relative to my needs.
And on that note, it would go a LONG WAY in my opinion for SYSTM to finally allow IMPORT of rides done outside of SYSTM into one’s calendar and take that work history into account when suggesting workouts.
I don’t know whether ROUVY uses imported rides in any workout suggestions, but ROUVY DOES allow IMPORTS from a rider’s outdoor activities and shows them in one’s calendar workout history alongside the ROUVY rides. This has LONG been asked for, rightly so, and SYSTM would help itself to get this feature into place.

If there IS any “intelligence” guiding the suggested workouts, it cannot make good suggestions without access to other activity not done on SYSTM.

Would the last bit of your post not be solved by the Strava integration?

Haha. The incredible AI suggested to be the day after my knighthood that since I hadn’t done a hard ride in quite some time, here, try (some silly thing).
I wish there was an option to turn off the suggestions.

There is, Dame @Isa
You have to do it from the wahoo app though:

Hide the Recommendations panel

  1. Navigate in the Wahoo app to the Today tab > Settings > Training preferences
  2. Toggle Recommended Workouts off.

Not sure what you mean by Strava integration?

Hmmm. Another reminder of the DISintegration problem…

THIS is the year they’re gonna do something about that

SURE(-ly!)

The Wahoo app now pulls data across from non-Wahoo workouts from Strava. For example, I record my commute walks using my Polar watch, upload them to Strava and then they appear in my Wahoo history.

Sir Glen you mis-typed. “year” s/b DECADE! While you may think this is critical, I think I could make a better case for that than this year.

reading some of my posts and comments and such about the deSUFocation during The Great Cleanse aside, imma remain optimistic

Hmm. Wasn’t aware of this! I pretty much NEVER use the WAHOO app other than to change gear settings on my KICKR Bike.
This is just further reason that Wahoo desperately needs to integrate SYSTM or Wahoo X or whatever they want to call this (I still call it SYSTM; I’m a slow adopter) with the WAHOO APP once and for all.
For whatever this means, I did just now check in the WAHOO APP to see if it had brought in any of my non-SYSTM/X activities into the Calendar…
NOPE. None.
I checked to see if the Wahoo APP was connected to Strava and indeed it is. So whatever is causing them to show for you isn’t working for me. ??
And I have to say, that Calendar is a clunky thing to operate and use on the Android App.
I’ll admit that I NEVER use the SYSTM/X app on the phone, always on the PC, and that Calendar is decent. I still wish they incorporated use of a SCROLL BAR on the app, not only for Calendar but also for the Library Workouts, but that’s another pipedream.

Thanks for mentioning the Strava aspect. Maybe it hints at some integration to come… maybe!

Because Wahoo X is a lame name, reminding one of a teenager trying too hard to be “cool”. SYSTM is okay, and on branding style. Sufferfest is the actually cool one, of course.

I TOTALLY agree!

You have to de- and re-authorise Strava on Wahoo for it to work. And all evidence suggests they very much are working towards a single app (including rolling Elemnt in with the others).

Thanks for that… I just did the de- and re-authorize for Strava so I’ll see how that goes. I don’t know if they will go backwards to get previous activities (I assume not, so I may have to wait till I do more outdoor rides or other workouts to know if it worked.)
I also noted that there were several permission boxes checked, of which I unchecked most because they don’t seem justified (like giving access to everything, profile settings, etc.) If they want access to such, they need to explain why.
