Zwift Ride with SYSTM

Similar to your idea, I was able to do this via BTLE but just toggled trainer control off on SYSTM leaving it on on Zwift.

So this similar workaround works for me using Zwift Play controllers and a Kickr. No need for Ant+ dongle. Because Kickr can support multiple BTLE connections you can give trainer control to Zwift on a flat route (Tempus Fugit), and to completely eliminate any gradient you can also turn trainer difficulty to off. This would allow you to use this workaround on any route in Zwift. Simultaneously run SYSTM via computer (I use a MacBook) but toggle trainer control and elevation off on the settin…

I was on level 0, I did a calibration before I started it, I use Kickr core and virtual shifting with zwift ride. No more cassettes for me indoors, lol.

But you need two subscription for this for Zwift and for Systm, that doesn’t make sense

I am also using Zwift Ride Smart Frame, and I would like to know is there any plans for implementation virtual shifting in SYSTM and the Wahoo app. Wahoo trainers already support virtual gear shifting on Zwift, so it seems logical that this functionality should be available within their own ecosystem as well.
In this way, they are effectively putting own users at a disadvantage in favor of Zwift, even though the hardware is fully capable of supporting the same feature across all platforms.

I do not need both, but I need possibility to ride in ERG and SIM mode. I would always choose systm and wahoo apps before zwift if they had this option

but you bought a Zwift Ride frame so you’re gonna be limited. If you dont want to use Zwift but you want the Zwift frame virtual shifting to work, there is a GitHub app called QZ Fitness that works perfectly in making the virtual shifting work within SYSTM. I’ve been using it for quite some time (with the Zwift Play controllers) and while it isn’t the slickest app out there and it’s designed to make all sorts of otherwise incompatible things connect, it does what it says.

I wouldnt expect much development on the SYSTM app from Wahoo to be frank. It seems all their efforts software wise are going into the Wahoo App. So, maybe enabling virtual shifting from the Zwift Ride is on their roadmap, but to me, that’s more a Zwift thing than a Wahoo thing, since Zwift controls the firmware for their hardware.

Thanks, I’ll try the app. I bought Zwift Ride because I don’t want to ride my bike on a trainer and have to constantly mount and dismount it.

I got myself a dedicated trainer bike for the same reason. It’s a road bike that’s never seen a road. But I’ve also got a Kickr Climb that I could never give up. You’ll find the QZ Fitness app on Google or Apple and the developer is super responsive.

I have old elite dumb trainer qubo power fluid which have been using for many years with old training bike and bontrager interchange speed/cadence sensor. It’s all getting very tired / rusty due to many hours drenching in holy water. I like to keep thinks simple / cheap and much prefer manual gear change to generate load rather than using erg mode.

Anyways, was finally considering a new setup with the swift ride kickr core combo, but only if I can use the thing in ‘manual’ rather than erg mode on SYSTM and ROUVY.

I am die hard sufferfest 10+ years, nothing beats it IMHO, but very occasionally do a ROUVY ride for recovery.

If ride plus kickr can work seamlessly using manual gear change with SF I may go that way, just trying to get some feedback / confirmation on that.

The Zwift Ride doesn’t have the capacity for “manual” gear changes as there’s no mechanism for a derailleur.

Shifting in the Zwift Ride is done virtually while on Zwift and imho, it actually feels impressively realistic. SYSTM is another story though. Because the Ride was made to work only in Zwift, to get it to work in other apps, like SYSTM or TPvirtual, Rouvy etc you’ll need to use another app concurrently called QZ Fitness.

I have the Zwift Play controllers and am able to use virtual shifting (including tactile feedback from the shift paddles) by using QZ Fitness while using SYSTM. It’s not particularly elegant but it works perfectly.

Thanks Glen, thanks for your response. Yup when I said ‘manual’ I really meant using Ride shifters to change virtual gears rather than use in ERG mode.

I know Zwift no longer sell Play controllers, I guess what I am looking for is someone who has used QZ as the middleware with the Ride shifters for ‘manual’ shift changes on SYSTM.

BTW, I believe ROUVY now supports Ride shifters with no additional app like QZ needed.

My solution. Run wahoo app on your phone, start a workout in erg mode. Run the 4DP test or another where you need shifting on a separate device I use an iPad and control the resistance/ gearing of the trainer on your phone. There are 3 options to control the resistance I use % increase. Easy just klick up and down on the fly.
