5 years later

it’s been a while ago but in a way still present…
on December 10, 2019, I underwent major surgery to get the brain tumour removed that had been bugging me for a while

(the day after, slightly knocked out. even made GvA shudder when he looked at me.)

my goal was to return to Sufferlandria before the end of the year. pretty ambitious I guess, but still.
on December 29 I decided I was fit enough for at least an easy spin and went for the shortest possible workout, Open 15. the first five minutes turned out OK, sort of, then it got really, really hard and I discovered the fifth Hard Place that no one had ever heard of before, a Sufferlandrian archeological sensation
(correction here: has to be the sixth Hard Place of course)

(just about managed to make it till the end, but felt like my toughest ride ever)

(extremely happy after some food and a hot shower and more food and a short trip to Couchlandria plus some more food)

why am I telling you this? It’s the December 29, exactly five years later. so instead of chosing the shortest workout, it’s time to go for the longest once again, Kitchen Sink.

(well prepared I hope)

in case I survive, I’ll let you know how it was. wish me luck

That’s quite a list! You only mentioned Kitchen Sink, but I see a few other ways to suffer listed afterward. Are you planning to keep going?! :face_with_peeking_eye::frowning_with_open_mouth:

I believe that is the list of the workouts that make up the Kitchen Sink mashup, and the timing within the mashup for each segment

Hail, Sufferlandria!
different date, same shi(r)t…
Kitchen Sink actually felt a bit easier than Open 15 five years ago. perhaps I should go for another Knighthood attempt some time sometime (soon?) next year
HONOUR GLORY VICTORY

Noice! You could schedule your 3rd KoS quest to coincide with the release of the new kit on Monday!

Dame @IsiSchneider_KoS, when was this photo taken?

This is perhaps the most genuine display of the joy of suffering I have ever seen, and a reminder of exactly how bad of a badass you actually are.

Mad respect for you, Dame Isi. Ive done some crazy suffering, but you’ve been thru suffering one should never have to go through. I’m glad you’re still suffering with us in the proper GvA appointed suffering. :mending_heart:

this is a shot that was taken on the last day of the 2020 ToS, around two months after my return to Sufferlandria. my “tour” consisted of one single ride, Joyride, on that very day and my first time of “proper” suffering after… well…
there’s a risk of infection after each surgery, in my case about 3% which is actually quite a bit lower than in other hospitals for similar procedures but then again, bacteria don’t really give a f**k about risk ratios. I started feeling a bit weird about four and a half weeks after my tumour was removed and ended up having emergency surgery two days later after the lab had found a massive infection inside my brain that had to be cleaned out with some urgency. spent four more weeks in hospital on IV antibiotics, plus had a revision, so being able to return to Sufferlandria for a 30 minute Joyride was completely overwhelming.
had two more revisions in March and another one in May, radiation therapy in October and November, so there’ll be quite a few more “five years ago” occasions in 2025

Incredible, Dame Isi. Absosuffin’luteIy incredible. I recall this day and you posting it on FB but not all the detail. Thanks for sharing. I knew there was a reason I clipped it and saved it from the SUF FB page! LEGEND!!
