Just wondering, will my Trek FX2 DISC Gen3 work with Kickr Snap?
Doesn’t look like it.
Ive read that article but its still unclear.
What in particular from the specs would make it incompatible?
The rear hub and skewer from the way I read it.
Trek Sport hybrid is a different model range.
I’m gonna say yes. According to the Trek website your FX2 Disc Gen3 has a “Formula DC-22, alloy, 6-bolt, Shimano 8/9/10 freehub, 135x5mm QR”. So that qualifies under the second line of item 2 on the Wahoo SNAP compatibility page. Line 2 says 10mm by 135 thru axle, but 10mm is the diameter of the hub axle, not the skewer, which is 5mm.
I guess ill find out this afternoon. Ive picked up a snap second hand, i just need to buy a replacement skewer to test the fitment.
But the skewer is 152mm so, I’d be surprised if it works properly.
As I read the Trek website, the rear dropouts are a standard 135x10mm and use a standard 5mm skewer, which is ~20 mm longer than the dropout spacing. Maybe it’s different than that. They do have models with using a different type of skewer, but this one seems to be standard. A photo of the rear end of the bike that shows the skewer and QR would be helpful.
You might be right. I’m just waiting to hear back from @butters on how things went. I hope it works. The Snap is a great wheel on trainer!!
I hooked it all up this afternoon and did the spindown. All seems to connect and work fine.
EXCELLENT!!!
Thanks for checking back in.
Tips for spin down as a former Snap owner:
Prior to each and every ride, for the most accurate power numbers:
- Always inflate your tire to the exact same pressure
- Always tighten the knob the exact same number of turns
- Always ride for about 10 minutes at a cruisy pace BEFORE the spin down
- Perform the spin down in the Wahoo App NOT on Zwift or any other app that offers spin down calibration
- Make sure you’re always on the latest firmware (you should get a notification once you open the Wahoo App if the Snap is plugged in.
Enjoy!
