Come join the Knight Ride!

New rides for this weekend are posted - same format as prior weeks, banded for fun. Will fill in the deets in Zwift later. Route courtesy of Sir @emacdoug, who “won” last week’s early ride. :smirk:

I will actually be stuck in for the middle round this weekend due to work scheduling, so if anyone wants to “lead” the early or late events, let me know!

My plan is to join the early (8:00 am CDT) ride this time. I won’t “lead” as it’s kinda touch 'n go that I’ll make it on time. :poop: (yes, that is a poop emoji, lol)

Sounds good. How’s about if you DO make it, just go in and slot yourself as leader when you log in?

Does that “lead” thing actually do anything except put a golden beacon on your back?

If you are the leader and the group is banded you set the pace. It also gives you the ability to “fence” on riders who go flying off the front.

Doesn’t a banded ride keep everyone together anyway though?

Yeah what @jmckenzieKOS said. Operating theory as I understand it is that the banding effect is keyed to the leader. Would it still work w/o a ride leader? IDK. Maybe I’ll test it out this weekend?

I don’t know if that will work or not. Great idea on seeing if a no leader ride stays together.

Since I picked the route I can always lead.

Edit: the early ride

Calling all Knights and Sufferlandrians… this weekend, March 23-24, we have the opportunity to ride together on Zwift. There are three times to accommodate Sufferlandrians all over the globe. The times you see in the photo are Central Time in the United States, so check your Zwift Companion app to choose the best ride option for your time zone. Like the first few rides, this one will be “banded” to keep us together while we ride. During the ride we can chat in the Zwift app, but we can also look into using Discord to permit us to converse as we pedal. If you have not done so, join the Knights of Sufferlandria KOS club in the Zwift Companion App. You will get alerts about club rides after you sign up here:

I’ll be doing the 6am PT / 9am ET ride. I can lead it since I picked it.

I know what I said but…

Change of plans. It snowed all day so no travel. I did something worse and worked on a modern vehicle performing routine maintenance in a cramped, poorly designed engine bay. If I don’t feel like sending myself thru a meat grinder when I wake up I might join the early ride.

Sounds like the name of a future Sufferfest workout!
