Hello dear Wahooligans,
I would like to know what equipment you use to record your activities in the Wahoo ecosystem, especially running or walking activities (not cycling).
In other words, for those who don’t have or don’t use RIVAL, how do you add these activities to Wahoo?
I once sent a suggestion through support to adapt the Wahoo app to run on the Apple Watch and thus record these activities, but so far without any effect.
Does this work with the free version of Strava? I don’t use Strava now but I’m thinking about adding ROUVY for weekend rides but still want to use the SYSTM calendar and workouts. I used ROUVY last winter and recorded my workouts on my Roam, but my Climb won’t work on ROUVY when using the Roam.
I typically use the Wahoo app to record my walks. I always listen to music and I like the custom announcements every 500 metres (pace, distance covered, time elapsed etc)
I walk on the treadmill during the winter (sadly, no more running for moi); I broadcast a virtual run from a Garmin watch to the Wahoo fitness app (not Systm app) on my phone so Ican see live data. The watch picks up both HR and strides, and then I edit the treadmill-recorded distance in the activity. Everything syncs to the Systm calendar.
Outdoor activities are exported from Garmin Connect and uploaded.
If you don’t use the RIVAL, the easiest and most reliable way is to record your runs or walks on another platform (Apple Watch, Garmin, Polar, COROS, etc.) and sync them to Wahoo via Strava.
How it works:
Record the activity on your watch/device as usual
Sync it to Strava
Connect Strava to your Wahoo account
The activity will automatically appear in the Wahoo ecosystem. It’s currently the only supported workaround for non-RIVAL running/walking activities.
Native Apple Watch support in the Wahoo app would definitely be the cleanest solution, but until then, this method works consistently.
