here’s my version of the poster:
I got your 2 entries in for the old flag and I see you found your way to Sir @JoeMartin’s post as well.
here’s my version of the poster:
Just joined The Team.
Sweet.
Thanks, Dame Cristy!
Great to have you! If you haven’t seen Sir Joe’s sweet fundraising incentive, check it out here:
Yo! Sup? Did y’all start your Wahoolimabob Tour Prep Plans today?
Or, like me, are you just gonna wing it on the day? Honestly, I’m starting a MGF plan in a few weeks and will fit my Tour in around it.
It’s never too early to join the National Team though so get in there, tell your friends, and tell your friend’s friends. We’ve got a pretty big team bus and there’s room for everyone.
Here’s the link to join again for you, in case you don’t want to scroll all the way up a whole comment or two

I’m one of us!

I did!
I have this scheduled for later in the year (starting mid April) for my year’s A race, so the prep and Tour are functioning as a “get fit enough to start training properly” plan
Never doubted that for a moment, sir!
The Tour, no matter how one does it, usually provides a nice little bump in fitness and a bit of motivation to keep going at this time of year, at least in the Lava Snow covered prairies of Canada.
I assume your “A” race is a run at the gates
As an aside and unrelated to this topic, your profile pic always reminds me of the question: “What does a Sufferlandrian do at the top of a climb?”
Edit: oh, and my MGF plan is just so I can hit our mercilessly short outdoor road/gravel season running (well, running if running involved bicycles )
Maybe that will happen after the actual race. I’ll probably need a few “Remembering Why” sessions, too
My #1 Why was to get those decals. I had 9 other reasons too, as suggested by the Mental Toughness Programme at the time, but my Mt. Sufferlandria was Knighthood for a full year prior to my quest and the decal was reason Numero Uno. I’d found an image of it on the interwebs, printed it off and made stickers (some removable and some not ) and quite literally put them everywhere in my house and a bunch of places at my old workplace.
If I’m honest with myself, I still haven’t conquered my Mt. Sufferlandria from when I created it at the time the MTP was released.
It doesn’t seem right to start a new one, although I could argue that a Knighthood would be a stepping stone to greater things (if that’s even possible ).
It’s TOTALLY possible. My FIRST Mt. Sufferlandria was Knighthood. I’ve had a few others since (many achieved, others not). Were they greater though? Nah, I’d just say they were different.
Just a follow up to this, I actually started the plan by doing DAYT for the January challenge.
As I’m determined to get things right, I decided to do it at 100% to benchmark myself (that’s the challenge, right?!), having previously sporadically run videos at 92% because of detraining.
Haha, it did seem like a good idea at the time. Made it to the final interval of the first set before needing to switch to Slope mode rather than ERG, then cursed my way through set 2, before needing a lie down and deep breathing.
Does Gerry have any buckets still available?
Come back, O bygone days of misery!
You and me both. Although with the weird weather this year, I probably could have gone on a road ride. In January. Without studs.
If only I could find my legwarmers…one is on walkabout and this annoys me.
You could always do what one insane local did; 100mile loop, which included running over Crow pass (about 24miles) carrying his bike. That would hit your qualifying statement
I’ve ceased being surprised at the challenges people put in front of themselves and either succeed at or fail spectacularly, both of which are equally impressive.
Okay, I’ve come out of my “no social media” zone and embraced a lovely ride through WahooLandria. Thanks for getting the band back together, Dame Cristy.
Legend! Always great to see you, @Sir_Terry!
