Knight Rides are Back!

An enterPAINing, “special” ending to the year. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Plenty of quality suffering, from the horses up front, to those of us middle-stragglers, to the hard-working pack in the rear.

@Brann_Mac_Finnchad, Sir Ruben @Medina81, and P.Monk went 1 - 2 - 3, all an impressive sub-50 minutes and 3+ w/kg. Sheesh guys!

“Finn MacMissile” ALSO managed to claim the polka dot jersey for (repeatedly) climbing sub-30 seconds up the Clyde Kicker.

Green jersey to me! Held off some hard challenges to take the green jersey on the Champions Sprint, with a last-lap 14.339 to salvage some pride. Also apparently won a new bike? (No seriously - took the green jersey and unlocked a Pinarello Dogma F8 for some reason. Wasn’t a level-up or anything?)

Did I also mention I discovered my max HR was about 5 beats higher than I thought it was? :face_vomiting:

Hard to get any group pics today. Anyone else want to share - and share your thoughts - feel free! Here’s one from Sir Ruben with, umm, SLIGHTLY more power output than I had in the tank today…

Hope to see you next weekend for the first ride of the New Year! (something a little more normal?)

30 sec or below on every KoM attempt. The feathers almost every lap helped :wink: I tried to take that green jersey off you at the finish line, but was about .75 seconds off. I dread what wattage I’d have to put out to keep up with Sir Ruben if he was actually trying (compare those heart rates!). 47:56 overall time.

Taking photos was hard, but I managed one of when I lapped you…not on the KOM, although I tried :smiley:

Your new bike is from the Ride Italy challenge.

Man I hated that scene…

Oh gee, thanks, @Brann_Mac_Finnchad. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

So I didn’t earn the Pinarello for my sprinting prowess?

:joy::rofl::joy:

Actually that makes sense - didn’t realize I was that close to being finished with the Italy challenge, though!

I’m going to get a good chuckle out of that whenever I see your post.

Thanks to all that came out this fall, cheered us on, or heckled us! This has been a lot of fun and is becoming a highlight of my Saturday mornings. I intend to keep them up into the New Year (with a new 2025 thread) but would be interested in any feedback to improve or increase attendance. We’re finally on Zwift’s big board every week, so would like to keep up the momentum.

I’d encourage anyone Zwifting to join the Knights of Sufferlandria club if you’re not already! The more of a steady event presence we get, the more likely we can get Zwift to give us our own kit!

(FWIW, I would be more than happy to set up a second instance of the Knight Ride each weekend, so that our eastern hemisphere fellow knights and citizens can play too, would just need someone in the club willing to serve as ride leader(s) on a regular basis, and a time that would be most convenient to run it. Tried this last year, but it seems like the alternate ride was never that well attended (2-3 at most usually).)

I think having just one ride is helping it being much better attended this year. So I suggest keeping it at just the one for now. If there’s enough call for it, tho, then could have a second. I’m happy it’s been more popular this year even tho I’ve only been able to join once.
