Yep. :stuck_out_tongue: Nothing new it’s just been a few years since. It’s fine. I’ll be fine. It will all be fine.

OK, so you remember last week I emphasized how we run the Knight Rides banded so we can all come together as a group for a fun Saturday social ride?

Yeah, so forget all that. As a special end-of-year wrap-up ride, introducing…

THE 1ST ANNUAL KNIGHT’S JOUST CRITERIUM
Glasgow Crit Circuit | 10 Laps | 19 Miles/30.5km | 330m/1080ft

(Probably this is a dumb idea)

Let’s usher in the Sufferlandrian new year with a bang! Challenge yourself (and/or maybe others) on this UN-banded race ride.

Race for victory (if you want)! ITT to see how quickly you can get around the course (if you want)! Enjoy the sights of Glasgow on a leisurely Z1/Z2 ride while heckling Sir Ruben @Medina81 as he laps you…again.

Point being we’ll not be banded, but we WILL be on a closed loop, so will still kinda/sorta be together. As an incentive though, we will recognize the following achievements (M/F and Pace Groups):

  • Tourney Champion
  • Green Knight (sprinter)
  • Flamme Rouge (climber)

(There may or may not be prizes on offer if I can figure out how to make that work.)

Event results (and all Knight Rides going forward) will be posted to ZwiftPower…now that I know how to do it!

Sign-up link HERE. Though I may be out there all alone…we’ll see!

For pace planning sake…how do you plan to “score” points for the segments? Most times first across the line? Cumulative? Average time for each segment?

As I posted in the Zwift club, I’m going to be playing in the dirt tomorrow morning building a mtb course. I almost bailed on it to do the Knight’s Jousting Crit.

I did 10 laps on the crit course this afternoon, running negative splits each lap on the KOMs and sprints. My fastest (lap 10) Clyde Kicker KOM is 35.05 and Champions Sprint is 16.35. Hopefully you can smash those times tomorrow with some friendly competition.

Sooo…bear with me here. Learning as we go. “Segment points”? Was going with your basic first-across-the-line/overall time thing, plus top sprinter and climber. Not sure Zwift or ZwiftPower give me the ability to score laps/segments.

I welcome any suggestions…

I have no idea; I know I’ve done races where the only thing scored is the KoMs (the only races I can do okay in, lol), but I’m not sure of the logistics. The data may be on ZP afterwards…it should show the times for each segment.

Ah well. Zone 2ish and attempt to crush the climbs, got it

As good a plan as any!

Very loosely zone 2ish. I think I saw that particular zone in passing. Briefly. Probably whilst dying on a downhill recovery.

I just looked at the results and the power output of the leaders. I picked a great day to build trail!

IKR? It was something to see.

…as it passed me.

Is there a link for us to gawk at?

The best I can do is the AICL NICA website as the course is on private ranch land. The group that I’m associated with does volunteer trail work for both USFS and BLM and were tasked with working in a rocky, technical section. AICL caters to both middle school and high school mtb racers and for some this will be their first ever race (it is the season opener). It was a fun challenge to create alternative lines for both the seasoned racers willing to take risks and the novice racers to make ‘easier’ but slower.
