Caught red-handed, indeed!
Thank you for catching that and thqnk you very much for the opportunity to learn. My bad! Not sure where I lost the correct definition along the way, but it’s clear now—meritorious, not emeritus, duly noted!
And of course, no one never ever receives emeritus title in Sufferlandria, i guess. No one can never leave, isn’t that right?
Thanks again for the correction and for keeping the spirit alive. It’s also what makes Sufferlandria the Greatest Mythical Nation in the World.
Will still be a banded ride, so you’ll stay part of the group so long as you’re pedaling. We’ll be a messy blob, rather than a smooth echelon, but we can pretend!
Zwift’s algorithm uses something like overall average power to determine the group’s “speed”, so despite the banding, every rider counts…just like in a real TTT!
Like in any group ride, you can work as hard or as little as you want. So maybe set yourself a challenge! What’s your best hour FTP?
For those able, you could consider running Team Scream in the background for your workout (I’m strongly considering it).
You’re encouraged to use a TT bike or Tron bike for the ride - for a sweet group photo if nothing else. If you don’t have one yet, put all that Sufferlandrian holy water to work and buy one from the drop store!
(FWIW, per Zwift Insider estimates we’ll need to average 2.5w/kg as a group to break an hour. Figure with Sir Ruben and a couple of the other horses, we should be fine! )
Whew! Anyone catch the number on that train? I know I set a one hour PR for the season…how 'bout everyone else?
Led once again by our workhorse, Sir Ruben @Medina81, a.k.a. La Armada Española (hey, I think it’s funny at least!), our biggest group yet managed to smash an hour over four laps around the Loch something-or-other in Scotland. Excellent suffering was had by all!
Apologies to those who were dropped - apparently even with banding turned on, you can snap the band if you end up more than 15m behind. Live and learn. But kudos to all who participated, for however long!
Will post next week’s ride Tue/Wed. Something completely different, I’m thinking.
On a flatter course, I’m pretty sure we could do 20 miles in 55 minutes. Next time we do a TTT we also need to agree on an order for who pulls when, and how long they’ll stay on the front. I know multiple times we had two guys on the front, each doing 4+ w/kg. One of those people should be “resting” in the wheels, ready to hit it hard when it’s their turn to pull.
I know that I never had a draft off any of the other riders, which negated trying to get a paceline going. I believe that is due to being on a TT bike. I don’t have enough experience with Zwift to know how they set up TTT events where the TT bikes do get to draft.
I finally got to join in for the first time this season! Even tho I averaged only 79w. Hope I didn’t drag everyone down. I did get a dig in during the last 400m - tho not sure if anyone saw since I was past my free 25km. Nonetheless it was great to finally join in. And was great to see such a nice size group!
Then I was able to ride 50 minutes of the Sufferlandrian Slingshot on TP-V. Also averaged only 70w. Longest ride in over 3 months, tho!
Hopefully I’ll be able to join in for more. And maybe be more productive in the not-too-distant future.
