I was thinking of this epic ride as we climbed the Ventoux. Nobody has to do it, but if you are a little interested in cycling history you might want to spend 7 minutes learning or reliving the history of one of Mont Ventoux’s unlikeliest stage winners -Eros Poli. Here’s the YouTube link: https://youtu.be/XkiBjDogCBM?si=1DMAZGUnDS6ohm3p
absolutely incredible!!!
Laughed out loud when the announcer called him, at 194 cm and 200 lbs the tallest and most corpulent participant! #relatable #wellthebitaboutcorpulenceatleast
In other news, happy to report that we’ve run enough iterations of the Knight Ride that we’ve been added to Zwift’s Big Board! Already picked up a few immigration applications for this weekend’s ride…
Nice work, Cap’n Sir et al!!
Sir @CPT_A i remember reading about the possibility of having a SUF jersey in Zwift someday. I don’t recall the exact requirements, but does being added to the Big Board may represent a step in that direction?
Congratulations to you and the Knights who have been organizing and leading these special rides!
I believe so, yes. Hoping for the chance to work on that.
Hey, if Poli is 194 cm (i am like a cm taller) and 200 lbs (I am about 215) what would the announcer call me?! As long as he doesn’t call me late for dinner…heyoooh!
#areyougonnaeatthat
Thanks all for the great ride today! Held my part of the bargain in pulling up The Climb (I think I had mentioned that on a Facebook post) - Zwift, Intervals.ico and WKO5/TP all upgraded my FTP value following that gruelling 19 minute climb…
Rob
Was great having you! You definitely did some strong pulls - I think I PR’d every segment on The Climb today!
It was my first full climb up The Grade… “Fun”…
Rob
I’ll be doing the Zwift baseline elevation workout and the Grade test sometime next week. Curious how it’ll compare to my 4DP and nearly perpetual Sprinter status. So far, it’s looking like it’ll just confirm what I already know. That is, I’m pretty okay at sprinting, I’m a little less okay at attacking and I suck at Threshold.
Ah, the “joy” of shared SUFFering. Would just like to thank Sir Alan @montgoma and his route choice for…absolutely nothing.
Biggest group we’ve had yet came out to ride with us today - Sir Ruben @Medina81 had a couple of additional horsepower to pace him for a change. Background TrainerRoad intervals were a particularly painful choice, though can’t say I didn’t prefer it to @Tiago_Branco running Revolver on the side.
Speaking of - and again with the stipulation that Sir Ruben @Medina81 is ALWAYS the GOAT - the SUFFocracy has spoken (HT: Sir Aad @Aadass, Sir Andrew @aksibe and @Blackwater) and @Tiago_Branco was generally acclaimed as chief SUFFerer of the day, so may select next week’s route if you so choose - just hit me up by Wednesday with your ideas and we’ll hash it out.
As always, thanks everyone for coming out and for keeping it lively out there. Hope to see you next weekend!

Up, up, UP The Climb. Sir Ruben leads the way…again
The end in sight. everybody still here
So GREAT to see such a turnout Cap’n Sir! One day I’ll get there. One day…soon. Too bad you don’t ride on Monday’s. I could join a ride to coincide with the upcoming new SUF vid and kit announcement
Je te salute mon Frére. Right there with you.
Schrödinger’s Monday…
That’ll be the same day I’m able to join back in. Lol. Hopefully sooner than that.
Glad there was a great turnout today! Hoping I can join in again before everyone goes away.
Ah, indeed! The “joy” of shared pain and SUFFering… Revolver felt less difficult this time around. The power of a strong and inspiring peloton is incredible—and certainly, the human ego can be remarkably susceptible at times!
I joined one of the earlier rides, the very first, if I’m not mistaken, with Sir @CPT_A and Sir @Glen.Coutts . Since then, the timing hasn’t aligned for me. Finally, I was able to join this weekend’s ride, and it was truly special. Although I’m relatively new to the forum, I’ve been a devoted fan of The Sufferfest for years—The Greatest Mythical Nation in the World! Riding alongside others who share such deep passion and knowledge of Sufferlandria was a real joy. I once dreamed of joining a SUF camp, but could never grab that opportunity. Who knows? Maybe one day something similar will come up—perhaps a Band of Climbers SUF Escape? (BOC Escapes)
Being named Chief SUFFerer of the Day, what an honor! I must thank the horsepower GOATS that holded back and waited for me, though! I gave my best to catch up, but I certainly wouldn’t have made it if the peloton had started with the demolition pace that was seen during parts of the ride. Misery and pain! Always honored in Sufferlandria. Victory and glory? Still elusive, but to suffer here is to be blissfully alive! Hail The Sufferfest!
As for the next ride, as honored as I am, I must pass the privilege of route selection to Sir Ruben @Medina81 , respecting also the Dictatorialship. My schedule is unpredictable, so I may not be able to join next weekend, much as I’d love to. Plus, honestly I still need to explore Zwift more—I’d probably end up just picking some random route from the Climb Portal!
But one thing is certain: there will always be more SUFFering ahead, and I’m definitely looking forward to the next Knight Ride!
Thank you @CPT_A and all the Emeritus Knights of Sufferlandria for putting up this special enterpainment rides!
Waitaminnit!!

Imma say that perhaps you meant to say meritorious
meritorious, adj. & n.
1438–
Deserving reward or gratitude. Now also more generally: well-deserving; meriting commendation; having merit.
Edit: just for the record, @Tiago_Branco, I’m just teasing. I know you meant no ill will. You are a shining example of what is great and special about Sufferlandria, the greatest mythical nation in the whole wide world.
