When I start riding an MTB route somewhere else then at the official starting point of the route, my Roam II stops at the moment I pass the official starting point and says that I have reached the end of the ride. I asked Wahoo support what to do to prevent it doing this and they told me to re-select the route and then move on. Which means that I have to stop my ride for a couple of minutes to do that. I do not want that. Does anybody know a way to precent the Roam from acting this way? Something in the settings maybe?
I was having a similar issue, but in my case the rerouting feature didn’t recognize that I had started a ride somewhere other than the beginning and kept trying to route me to start rather than picking up route. If you have reroute feature on, turn it off. If it’s off turn it on.
I found the following instructions in an old post on the forum and reloading the maps fixed my problem.
Please follow the next steps:
Once the device is paired with the Elemnt App, go to settings and scroll down to Wifi. Please add your Wifi.
Please, ensure your Wifi respects the following: Wifi Issues
Double check on both your phone and BOLT that Wifi is correctly connected.
At this point, go to Manage Maps delete all the unused maps and re-download the only preferred Map (ex. Belgium). Downloading a new map can take up to 15 minutes depending on the connection used. I would recommend not locking the phone during the process.
After this, please perform a Gps calibration:
Turn the Bolt on while outdoors with a clear view to the sky
After the warming up process is completed, using the page button, scroll to the map page of the Bolt
Initially you will see “acquiring GPS” in the top corner of the maps screen
Once acquiring GPS is no longer visible, press start ride
Once you have completed these steps please double check that you have enabled the ‘Reroute Automatically’ option within the settings tab of the app, under the heading RIDE.
It would be worth trying a route where the finish is in a different location and seeing if that makes a difference.
If routes that are more A->B rather than A->A consistently work I wonder if it is possible that the direction that you’re passing through the start point allows the Roam to think you’re at the end of the ride rather than the beginning.
