Official Tour of Sufferlandria 2022 Route Discussion Thread

I rode TOS 2021 nuclear on rollers. I was intending to do the same this year but I need to see a non-Pro ride option for stage 1. Pro rides are miserable on rollers. They are not something I want to do as part of a TOS. Norway was something I’d swore I wouldn’t repeat as I had blisters on my shift fingers after it. Happy to suffer but…

So can we have an option for stage 1 for those of us without ERG please?

@RServranckx Thanks - delete and reapply worked for me as well.

@Heretic I selected focused - by deleting and reapplying the plan the modifications appeared so it seems to be working now.

Looks like a solid route this year, as usual it will be the cumulative effect over the 7 days of Suffering. Going into TOS 10 of 10 I look forward to the village being full of Sufferlandrians raising money for The Davis Phinney Foundation. Yeah! Here We Go! Ge your bib done.

Excellent! Downward Spiral and A Very Dark Place mixed in with some newer Stages!!!

Unfortunately, I have a gravel race on March 5, so for the first time in 10 years, I’ll have to substitute a non-imaginary race for Stage 7. I’ve informed Grunter and he’s issued me a single-speed bike for the IRL race.

Flogging Station 7 is open … enjoy this suffering for your blistered fingers.

For the Focused plan option, I’m noticing that Stage 6 - TBTITW does not have reduced intensities. Is that indented or an omission? TBTITW is relatively difficult on its own - but as a Stage 6 of the tour, it’ll be a leg killer at 100%…

Sir @David.McQuillen.KoS?

Rob

Hi @David.McQuillen.KoS As one of those earlier naysayers about the Wahoo merger, just to say great work from you and the team on the poster and a classic tour.
Absolutely brutal! (just how we like it.) The TdS’ a real highlight of the spring.
Now let’s take a deep breath…

Possibility of a related thread to show off our bibs … ?

(I could start it myself I suppose but perhaps a super user or Knightly mod would be better … )

Accidental feature? It’d turn SUF Idol into a standing start workout which is IMO slightly more painful than having some momentum to roll into the sprints. Dare you to do it this way in level mode! :face_vomiting:

Respect to you Sir.

I have a Schwinn Carbon Blue and have been riding these with no issue as far as matching power. I do find that it is easier to set the resistance so that you are hitting the higher power levels at higher cadence and the lower at lower cadences. Saves you on having to twist the dial so much and has the added benefit of being similar to how surges work when riding outside!

Yes, please say more as if we were not scared already…

For anyone who is not seeing adjusted intensities on the Focused or Get Me Through It Route options it should be fixed if you delete the plan and re-apply it.

Agree, AVDP was my introduction to Sufferfest and i think it’s the greatest. The cool down at the end has been known to have me getting very emotional and not just because the suffering is over.

Confirmed! Thanks Mac!
The only weirdness I see in the Focused plan is that The Model and TBTITW are both at 100%, and that the FTP setting for SUF Idol is set at 1%.
Are these the expected settings for the tour?

Thanks!
