On the remastering of the old Suff workouts

Just a note… Zwift isn’t cheaper.. £179 in the UK compared to £129 Systm

I was assuming he meant that he uses both currently but if SUF continues all their de-SUFing that it will be cheaper to dump SYSTM and just continue with Zwift.

Yes, probably, thanks. I have got into Rouvy and will possibly be cancelling Zwift at the end on my subscription as I cannot afford to have 3 subs running these days and cant seem to tear myself away from Systm at the moment as it was my introduction to indoor training. Rouvy are making improvements all of the time. Very realistic real life footage, more routes than you can ask for and stacks of plans/workouts (some very hard ones that would bring a Sufferlandrian to tears)and the cheapest too! Downsides at the moment even though they are actively looking into these.. !) No sound at all on any ride/workout… 2) You cannot change from ERG to level mode on the fly…3) Not so important but my trainer can pick up surface changes through the app on Zwift so that would be nice too on Rouvy. Rouvy’s on screen info during a ride has had a massive upgrade and the stats and info are amazing but there are not that many riders on there like Zwift but I expect that will change as more people “see the light” I do still like Systm though , I think the pro rides are very motivating and i do like most of the “on location rides too” and there is not too much to dislike IMO so I think for now Systm and Rouy are the keepers and Zwift (by far the most expensive) can go.BTW with Rouvy you can even suspend your subscription say during the summer months and then just carry on later if that is yoiur thing

I got a deal on TP premium so just got that for the year and with it, TPv. Dumped Zwift (too pricy for my general lack of use).

Using the QZ Fitness App, I can use my Zwift Play for virtual gearing on TPv and that’s a swell bonus.

As for SYSTM, I’ll go down with the ship.

Correct, Sir Glen.

I have used Rouvy for years. If you go on a route that is part of a challenge you will see plenty of riders on the course.

When would you want to change from ERG mode to level mode on the fly? Rouvy routes are really slope mode because it still controls the resistance. It is quite cumbersome to switch to level mode in Rouvy.

Unfortunately, Wahoo has a track record of destroying platforms, RGT being a case in hand. I remember how unpersuadable they were that compulsory steering on RGT wasn’t a great idea. 6 months later RGT was gone. I suspect the same will happen with Sufferfest. They have decided on a new direction for whatever reason, and they will continue with it. Unfortunately, I am now starting to be impacted by the new remastered videos, which I choose to do as no vids on TPV. But I have to ask myself what is the point of paying for Systm as I could just recreate similar workouts in Training Peaks at no cost. I guess I will reach a tipping point with this where I just cancel my Systm sub, but not quite there yet.

Yep. I’m hoping to do another knighthood in Nov this year. But I won’t be using any of the remastered videos unless wahoo starts caring about the quality.

We’ll see if there are enough videos left to use by then.

I’m really hoping for a change of heart from Wahoo, but at the same time I won’t be holding my breath.

When some of the wokouts call for rapid power changes that are too quick for the trainer to react. You can do this for a Systm workout already and in Zwift

Yep. We do this for workouts on SYSTM like Half Monty.

And also I do it for workouts like The Trick. Do the AC efforts in level mode but do the long recoveries in erg mode. Or The Shovel where I do most of the video in erg mode but do the highest AC and the NM sections in level mode.

Except for Violator I have not really had this problem.

I’ve done the same. Sufferfest and the forum have really helped me through a very difficult and dark time - I will always be grateful for that. Seeing it watered down like this, actually hurts. It makes me genuinely sad. I’m pulling the plug.

I feel this deeply as I’ve had a similar experience with The Sufferfest. As you said it hurts deeper than just losing an amazing product. It’s losing a connection and a group of amazing people that were almost a family. And even tho we know that nothing lasts forever, it’s the callous and indifferent and almost sneaky and underhanded manner in which it’s happening that’s the worst of it.

Rouvy - You can also go Routes and scroll down to Most Live Riders to see routes with activity

I think it’s clear that their attitude is “It’s ours. We will do with it as we please and if you don’t like, we don’t care.”

I really hate to say that but I don’t know what else to think as there is absolutely ZERO feedback or interaction from the company regarding our concerns over the remastering and desuffing of the Sufferfest content. And if it is truly a “licensing issue”, at least make an effort to have the generic footage match the effort and purpose of the workout or interval. I mean, if you are going to give me a cue to sprint, at least make it an on-screen sprint. If you cue me grind at 65rpms then the on-screen footage should atleast be a steep climb and not a group spinning at 90-100rpms on the flats.

Well, you should. It would be peak Sufferlandrian to try holding your breath until November!

With the decline in Sufferfest content (the remakes are no longer Sufferfest) I too have been using Rouvy a lot. My major gripe is the lack of being able to change to Level on the fly when doing a workout (I find this very easy on SYSTM due to the keyboard shortcut) - rapid changes in power, and sprints where you should be sprinting at max, not some pre-determined power in the workout.
Even worse, you can’t even do a workout in Rouvy in Level mode, let alone change it on the fly!

I’d just like to say that if they de-Suff “No Place Like Home”, that’s a red line for me!

I do need to thank Wahoo for one thing. I have a race tomorrow so had put primers in my calendar for today. I would usually do primers indoors regardless of the weather, just to make sure I get just the right effort. But today as I was about to climb on the turbo, I thought god no, I just can’t face such a dull video when it so nice outside, so I walked across the garage pick my TT bike off the wall and headed out into the lanes of North Wiltshire and it was flipping glorious. So thanks Wahoo, by making a crap video, you have inadvertently caused me to go out for a nice ride.
