RGT workouts sync with SYSTM Calendar

I am enjoying the Wahoo X experience overall. RGT is far more realistic than Zwift, but I find it frustrating that my RGT rides don’t get added to SYSTM workout calendar. It seems there isn’t even a way to do it manually. They are both connected to Strava, but still nothing. Would be nice to see some cross talk…

@CMitoKnight Definitely a good idea. Note that RGT rides do currently show up in the Wahoo Element app and the Wahoo Fitness app. Hopefully a connection to SYSTM will be available as well as it would be useful.

Stay tuned!

One of those things that the team is working on! See Sir David’s reply.

@CMitoKnight Just revisited your post - today I created the NoVid Openers in TrainingPeaks and emailed it to workouts@rgtcycling.com. Once I finished the workout it appeared on the SYSTM calendar and I was able to drag it over the Openers scheduled workout and it turned green. Hopefully in the future we will see NoVids already listed on RGT and also the ability to export them to a bike computer for an outside workout.

It’s September. The ‘stay tuned’ comment was made in July. RGT and Systm are pegged as a packaged deal in Wahoo X but they dont communicate with each other…

How many more months will it take for the two to sync naturally? We shouldn’t need a training peaks account for this.

Does the snyc between RGT Workouts and Systm Calendar work now? I am new here and have not been able to try it out yet

Hi @DieterHabacht

Certainly every RGT ride I have completed so far has synced with the Systm calendar - albeit a couple were a bit slow to show.

I haven’t yet tried importing Systm workouts to RGT as mentioned by @JSampson, so cannot comment on this aspect.

This came up in another thread recently, but it seems that calendar workouts cannot be played from RGT without going through email or Training Peaks. However, as suggested in that other thread, you can just play it in SYSTM and run RGT at the same time, but it’s not a very smooth UI experience, not something WAHOO could advertise as a solution.

What I’ve found is, on windows 10, with BLE and an ANT+ dongle, and sensor/trainers that use both, there is no solution that will get data to both apps using either BLE or ANT+ alone. You can do it by using both, and only enable trainer control on SYSTM. Then you can either use two screens and get both visuals (potentially cool in its own right), or use the SYSTM overlay to show the SYSTM dashboard over RGT, and even disable the RGT dashboard, or parts of it. Alternatively if you only have BLE you could just enable sensors on RGT (otherwise it won’t move) and use the SYSTM overlay to show targets while looking at values from the RGT display, but this is really hacked and won’t allow ERG control.

Of course WAHOO should just make it automatic to push workouts from the schedule to RGT.

Ultimately one would think the ideal (if starting fresh) would be to truly integrate SYSTM and RGT and the already very flexible SYSTM display options could include choices for “video,” RGT display, dual window, overlay only, etc. But they aren’t starting fresh, and that could be a lot of work.

@Still_D Have you tried the browser extension yet?

Hopefully I didn’t miss this here (or on another thread?) but is there any way to add ANY WORKOUTS/RIDES etc from another app, i.e. Garmin Connect, Strava, etc to my SYSTM CALENDAR? Just so they at least SHOW what I did on a certain date? That would enable using ONE APP to get a calendar view, both backwards and forwards.
As it is, the SYSTM Calendar is useful ONLY for SYSTM ride/workouts/etc. This is not helpful if someone like me does a majority of rides outdoors and NOT pre-designed workouts. But if SYSTM is to be useful to more subscribers (hint: nobody subscribes for long if the app isn’t useful to them), making the Calendar more visually useful means a user will visit the app more often, which means the user will more likely WANT the app and the membership.
I’m IN with SYSTM, but always hoping the app improves to be more useful to me. I drift away from even opening the app on my PC for many days, even weeks in good weather seasons, simply because I’m usually NOT following a plan, and opening the app isn’t useful unless I’m doing a pre-planned workout ride. A Calendar that showed all my workouts would be visually helpful and bring me back to the app, stimulate my thinking about what it has to offer, and probably increase my connection and commitment to using and paying for the benefits it offers!

No, it is not currently possible. It’s been stated they aim to be a more open platform and work with other things, but that doesn’t exist currently.

Thanks for the reply. That’s what I thought, but hoped I’d missed something somewhere.
Maybe someday!

@DouthatBiker You can dual record on the Wahoo Fitness App and the workout will show up on the calendar but otherwise you are currently limited to using a Wahoo bike computer or watch to get outside workouts or strength work that isn’t on the SYSTM calendar. The long term plan apparently is to be an open platform but they haven’t got there yet.

However, as suggested in that other thread, you can just play it in SYSTM and run RGT at the same time, but it’s not a very smooth UI experience , not something WAHOO could advertise as a solution.

Can you elaborate on that a bit more please?

IF you’re lucky enough to have a Wahoo Kickr or Core, then since the September 2019 firmware update, they now support up to 3 Bluetooth connections, so you can have them connected to your AppleTV for SYSTM, phone for the Wahoo app, and iPad for RGT if you want
As you know, only ONE software platform can have CONTROL over the Kickr resistance, but it can be any of the 3.

Alternatively if you only have BLE you could just enable sensors on RGT (otherwise it won’t move) and use the SYSTM overlay to show targets while looking at values from the RGT display, but this is really hacked and won’t allow ERG control.

ERG control can be selected from SYSTM or RGT with a Kickr

We liver in hope! But as @JSampson suggested, there is now an officially sanctioned 3rd part alternative

Just as info for anyone else reading this, All Wahoo X activities show up in the SYSTM calendar history once completed (SYSTM/RGT/ELEMNT) as well as the ELEMNT Phone App. There are no activities shown in the RGT history other than those that were done in RGT.

@buy_the_dip

they show up in my calendar but not in my workout history :frowning: yeh that’s a shame :frowning: . it would certainly be cool to see everything there similar to the way you do in Garmin Connect.
I guess there’s a big list of stuff Wahoo want to bring in terms of further integration. They’ve done a lot with RGT already and I guess enhancing the core SYSTM/RGT features may take president for now - maybe…

(as a reply, I hope, now)

I thought I got pretty specific, but maybe that’s what the smiles are about?

This is not a problem. Even my budget TACX smart trainer can do this. I was referring to a single windows setup. It’s still one radio and I couldn’t get both apps to take data from one radio. Using ant+ and BLE together, it worked.

ERG control can be selected from SYSTM or RGT with a Kickr

Again, same for my budget trainer… but the whole point was using SYSTM for the workout targets, right  ? If you can get the workout into RGT, then of course it can also do erg control, but then we wouldn’t be having this discussion. I was specifically referring to an atlernative setup using only BLE with a combination of SYSTM and RGT on a single device/radio and a particular variation on that using RGTs display. Then you don’t get SYSTM erg control. Using multiple devices, or SYSTM overlay on RGT or both BLE and ANT+, you can. KICKR or not. I’m kind of surprised actually it a took a recent update for the KICKR to get these things. Many devices have had multi-channel work for years, but I don’t know details about the KICKR

I’ll have to give the browser extension a look. Sounds good!

Shoot, I’ve had sub-$20 no-brand sensors from a long time ago, maybe 2017 at least, that could broadcast on both ANT+ and BLE and could do multiple connections at once at least on ANT+ and at least one simultaneously on BLE as well. No offense, but I’d certainly hope the Kickr would do it. It certainly should.
