ROAM v3 with Powerlink dropouts - How to switch from BTLE to ANT+?

H ello everyone,

I’m experiencing frequent dropouts when connecting my ROAM v3 (firmware WH22-301249) with my Powerlink pedals (firmware 1.1.1 on both pedals). The connection works fine for about 30 seconds, then drops out for around 10 seconds repeatedly. Currently, the pedals are connected via Bluetooth (BTLE), but I can’t figure out how to switch them to ANT+ mode.

For reference, my older ROAM v2 works flawlessly with these pedals.

Other connected devices:

  • Shimano Di2
  • Polar H10 Heart Rate Monitor
  • Garmin Varia Radar
  • Wahoo Speed Sensor

Does anyone know how I can set up my Powerlink pedals to connect via ANT+ instead of BTLE? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Is this a known Firmware Problem?

What I already did:
-Factory reset
-Disconnection several other devices
-Reconnecting the Power Plays like 100 times…

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear you’re having problems, @SpiDey! Standard response in the forums is - “have you put in a trouble ticket with support?” That’s really the best way to get you issue in front of someone who’s able to help. They’re usually pretty great.

I resolved the issue by performing these steps:
1. Disconnect the Powerlink pedals from the ROAM v3.
2. Open the Wahoo app and connect the pedals via Bluetooth to your phone (iPhone in my case). This blocks the BTLE channel.
3. Keep the phone connected and immediately search for new devices on the ROAM.
4. The ROAM will detect a device labeled “Leistungsmesser” (German for power meter) instead of “Wahoo Speedplay” (which indicates a BTLE connection).
5. Quickly connect this device to the ROAM. The connection will now use ANT+, which is confirmed in the ROAM device settings, providing a stable connection.

It seems the firmware needs updating to allow users to manually select between BTLE and ANT+ connections.
