Riding outdoors with Roam 3: do I need to use any app on my phone at the same time to make Roam show all data I want to see ?
You use the Wahoo App (not the ELEMNT Companion App) to set up the data fields on a Roam 3.
You can then use it without your phone. If you want, you can run the app while you ride and it will do Live Track for a spouse or someone.
As stated by Richie, Wahoo App must be running and connected to Roam 3 during ride for live tracking. With live tracking enabled and Wahoo app connected after starting ride, my wife receives email containing Wahoo link to see progress. Also, I get an alert on Roam 3 for incoming texts and phone calls.
Besides fields and other parameters configurable via Wahoo App, also possible to select route. However, so easy to do this directly on Roam 3.
Oh yeah that’s also something easier to do on the phone.
Look up a place in Google Maps, share to the Wahoo App, and the Wahoo App will send the location to your ELEMNT and route you there. Works great.
In theory you could route to a random place from the ELEMNT itself but it is harder.
