Wow, epic work @emacdoug! Keep going, you must be halfway by now, surely? I will think upon your misery as I meander on my gentle morning ride.
The Trick is how easy it seems. But when you ride it right it destroys you.
Now into Thin Air for #8.
I’m a beat too slow for all the good screen shots, now.
Well, I’m back from outdoor flogging station #58. 4h 25 mins moving, 4 h 54 min total. Stops were just to take some pics.
You done yet Sir @emacdoug? #itwasyouridea #thatsgonnabeanofrommedawg
fwiw, I did NOT go on a hay ride. 360 degrees of flat earth with unrelenting wind for the first half, a joyride of a 5k tailwind, then a return that I thought would be tailwind but was more of a cross wind so not as joyous but 1000 x better than a 4th Knighthood Quest!!! I mean, who in their right mind would do that?! Nobody obvs, that’s why Sir Evan is CRUSHING it!!!
The Mist of Misery and the fabled Fog of Agonia has descended and my brain is too kablooie to think. Didn’t even consider if I posted anything about finishing my 8th video until I was nearly done with number 9.
And which is now done.
On to Defender and the end of this sufferfest.
You got this Sir! I don’t know why you’ve got it, how you got here, or what compelled you to do it again, but I am curious to see the list for KoS #5.
Done and done.
Some quick thoughts as I try to take a cold bath in Las Vegas (i.e. room temperature water is 78 degrees).
The Wretched, The Trick, Thin Air is a brutal combo. Totally wrecked me. I figured with 3 years under my belt this lineup would be much easier.
It was not.
I did every ride at 75 up through The Trick which I did on level mode. The Wretched felt fine, but I definitely noticed the lack of recovery. The Trick drained me. I could barely make it through the final 18 minutes. Thin Air had no recovery and it was torture.
My legs finally began recovering part way through Omnium which I did in level mode.
Level mode is amazing for tired legs. Or a killer if you go all out.
Now time for a shower and a beer and some time on the couch before family pizza a movie night. Hopefully I’ll be able to gather my thoughts for a my standard post-ride analysis.
Congratulation Sir. Awesome job.
Get some rest.
Number 5?! Let him rest for a few minutes after he finishes!
There is much celebration throughout the land! Congratulations, Sir Sir Sir Sir Evan!
Well done Sir! Salute!
Congratusuffinglations Sir Evan @emacdoug!! Surely, this has got to be something of a record no?
In any event, you are an inspiration to the nation, Sir.
Quick question, are there any screen shots you don’t have?
Judging by how many potential screenshots passed that I wished I had - I’m definitely missing a few. There’s a lot of good ones I’ve forgotten about that I need time to rewind and snag.
And also, I cleaned up a bunch of old photos from my phone and realized I’ve removed a bunch from my phone. I still have them backed up to the cloud, but they aren’t immediately accessible to post.
So I definitely have some work to do to get those back and grab a bunch of new ones.
I actually have a list that’s mostly set for #5. I have had it mostly planned out since December when it was still going to be #4. It just needs a few tweaks and polish. This one I just did as #4 was birthed only a month or two after my father passed the end of Feb and the announced departure of Sir David McQuillen the beginning of April.
I’m now still considering if or when I’ll be doing #5. #4 has made me do a lot of thinking and questioning. There’s a lot to reconcile between what I want to do, what I should do, what I can and have time to do, what makes sense to do, and what my family will put up with.
Anyway… time to try and finish my post-KOS write-up.
No matter what you decide Sir Evan, you are a LEGEND!!!
It’s a case of when surely!
Would definitely be looking forward to reading your write up Sir.
You’re an inspiration!
