Wahoo Elemnt Bolt V3 Syncing issues

Here’s how I managed to recover my ride data today (19-July-2026). The ride summary data was in History on the Bolt V3, but there was no map of the route anywhere, not even on the app. No ride data at all could be found on the Wahoo app on my phone. I couldn’t see the Fit file either when connecting to the Bolt via USB.

On the Wahoo app, I manually created and entered the ride, and typed in everything exactly as per the History summary from the Bolt. Then the app found a route that I rode. I then selected the three dots for that ride and there were two options for ride data, from the Bolt, or the App (corrupted data). I selected the Bolt data and hey presto, for yesterday’s ride, all the exact stats and the route appeared. Then I synched the ride to Strava.

I think the problem arose because I recorded the ride with the Bolt, but the Wahoo app was also running in the background and recording the ride on my phone. Very close to the end of the ride though, my phone powered down due to low battery. I charged it up a little bit, then tried the find the ride. Two rides appeared to be uploading to my phone, but never finished the uploads. Then it was impossible to get the app to pull in the ride from the Bolt.

Hopefully someone will find this helpful!

@AyupStuggy So you were dual recording in the app when the phone battery died?

I think I must have been, although I didn’t realise this. At the end of the ride once I charged my phone up a bit, the ride tried to sync with the cloud I guess. However there were two progress bars as the upload was happening. Then they got stuck and never progressed any further. I guess it messed up as one of the recordings was not complete.

Then after fiddling and searching for ages, I manually entered the ride summary data on my wahoo app (manually typed in and copied from data the bolt History summary). After that, I was able to go into that ride and choose either the Bolt’s ride data, or the Wahoo app data. I tried both, and the Wahoo selection didn’t work, but the Bolt data did work. I think going forward, on a long ride, if my phone is likely to shutdown due to low battery, firstly make sure I’m not dual recording, then either keep it charged/topped up, or switch it off until I need it.
