It looks like there are 20 new Yoga routines, two needed for the January badge. Since the count remains at 63, obviously 20 have been retired.
Descriptions for these now seem to include a list of poses. I checked one of the new workouts and it appears to be a slightly shortened version of one that @abicarver has on her Yoga15 website and app. Not sure about the others. Based on my experience there, I would guess these are slightly smoother and have better production/editing than the earlier batches released in SYSTM, not that there were major issues with those.
This brings up an issue that Wahoo hasn’t addressed when they removed a few cycling workouts - what happens to downloaded videos when the workouts are deleted from SYSTM, like these 20 Yoga workouts? Are they automatically deleted? Is there a manual way to delete them without removing all downloaded workouts? Or do we have to live with these useless “ghost files” on our Windows/Android/iOS devices?
I did Cadence Builds this morning. I don’t remember exactly what the previous version was but I’m pretty sure it I did not have 3 minutes of black screen and no music at the end as this one does.
The main changes are the last two builds have different cycling footage. The last few minutes used to be a vignette about World Bicycle Relief. I’m assuming they’ve just forgotten to either add some more recovery footage or trim the ending.
Question on rest vs easy ride. The ‘plan’ for this challenge has in successive days: yoga - Cadence Builds - yoga - Full Frontal. I have always preferred an easy ride over no ride. Typically under 30 minutes and EASY. However, I have never done the alternative, with taking the two no ride days. Anyone care to opine on which may ultimately be better or is the diaper answer…it depends?
@Critmark I have done it both ways and found either way works for me.
Personally what I find more important is to get a good long warm-up in the day of the test. I previously would do something like Igniter or the 10 minute NoVid warmup but I have been moving more towards the 30 minute warm-up or just watching a short Inspiration video workout at 50 to 60% of FTP.
If you are a fan of a certain ritual before a big event or test then go with what worked for you before. Sometimes the mental game can be so much more important than the physical preparation.
Glad you mentioned that black screen for the last 2 minutes at the end of Cadence Builds. I was wondering if it was just my video dropping out, or if it was “intentional”.
Just took a quick look at Who Dares - there is STILL no KICKR Climb integration at all - the incline stays at 0% the whole time.
What a complete disappointment. As a matter of principle, I refuse to do any Sufferest workouts with no KICKR Climb integration…. No January badge for me, but at this point, I really care little about these badges…
It’s weird that they left it like that at the end of the video. Why didn’t anyone pick up on that before its release?
I still love SYSTM. They must be short staffed.
I’d like to know how they are making these decisions on these charges. Are they surveying users to work out what they do and don’t like, or just deciding that sufferfest needs dumbing down without understanding if people want that? I don’t hear any voices on here advocating for the updates. If they keep heading in this direction it won’t stand out from other platforms.
@Glen.Coutts Have you also noticed that in the “remastered” videos when the gun goes off and says “Attack” or “Sprint” or “Push The Pace” that there is no Attack or Sprint or Pushing of the Pace from some of the footage that follows the cue? I’m used to seeing an Attack or a Sprint or a Pushing/Lifting of the Pace in the footage at the cue. Now, with some of the cues, it’s just the peloton or the breakaway just riding along……unless I’m missing something…?..
In DAYT there’s some of the “motivational” DS talk from the car missing, and we seem to have lost the references to minions and Real Pagne!
I loved the sufferfest self depreciating humour - “Look, We know your legs hurt. But you’ve got this” just isn’t the same as the OG “…But nobody cares.”
The sanitisation of Sufferlandria is really disappointing. There’s plenty of platforms offering platitudes and fist bumps for mediocrity - I came here for a bit of hard work, gentle berating and some shared suffering.
Exactly. I completely get why SYSTM has expanded on sufferfest to broaden the appeal, and like the other content, but I like the variation, and want sufferfest to stay sufferfest. If I want high fives and back slapping I’ll go to Zwift. I need the motivation of being shouted out and the frank honesty that it is going to really hurt, that fires me up.
Another suff video taken away from us? Unless I misunderstand . If new “footage” just means cleaned up video, then never mind, but I read that as different video entirely.
I quite like the old ones. It’s what I look forward to in that workout. If The Company is so good at making Sufferfest-like content, then maybe they should do that, and stop taking away old content. It’s not like they don’t have plenty of no-vids they could modify. If they want to hide stuff away in a “classics” section and make you request access, fine. As it stands now for some things you actually have to impress the company you’re paying to be allowed to see it.
I have to decide now if I should hang to my download as long as I can.
Just out of curiosity, are the OG workouts accessible to the honorable Sirs and Dames of the Knighthood? I probably should have charged the gates years ago, alas, I seem not to have found the time. Access to OG content would be motivational for sure. Or maybe I just need to do it while there still is a Knighthood…?
