Wahoo X July/August Challenge - Proven in the Peloton

Like this a lot, great monthly challenge with a good amount of suffering.

Plenty of suffering indeed. This morning I was questioning which son of a GVA reckons the start of the 15 minute tempo / sub-threshold block in The Trick is meant to be zone 2 for HR!

Hypothetically you can crash indoors, if you fall off the trainer or you pull your bike out of the trainer while doing Zwift…or Violator cough cough

Or ride off your rollers into a bookcase…

Thanks for making this a two month challenge. It gives me the flexibility to complete the challenge during the outdoor season. Really looking forward to the new content.
Please keep it coming.

I noticed this too! Just laughed then ignored it, as I was kinda consumed with surviving the AC intervals.

naaaah, you’re just making this up

Please don’t harm the innocent bookcase(s)

Ask Dame Karen Noel what started this thread on crashing into bookcases off of rollers. Fortunately it the bookcase and her ego were damaged. Others have not been so fortunate.

I done 4 of the 5 available in this challenge. Waiting on Ventoux for a day when the temps aren’t in the high 90s and low 100s. Next Saturday looks like around 80, at least right now. By then two more rides will be ready to roll, or should I say climb.

I’m planning on giving Ventoux a go tomorrow morning. The one time I rode it before (nearly exactly a year ago) it really seemed difficult. What the SYSTM challenges are all about!

Ventoux… it’s a beast, those last 20 minutes!

Glorious, in a particular way.

a little feedback for the organisers - Bit disappointed that the challenge at this time of includes ones that were in last year’s challenge. Well, TBH, I’m not bothered about Wolfpack being repeated, but Ventoux? I hated it the first time but did it for the badge, but I’m not sure I can face it again! I would rather have a different horrible ride than one that was already included in a previous challenge. There’s so much content, so much suffering available, it would be good to change it up for the badge hunters amongst us.

I love the challenges exactly for ‘forcing’ me to do horrible rides.
For me, that’s The Trick - absolutely hate it! So, I guess I should be doing it more often. Unlikely I would ever choose to ride it, but if it comes up in future challenges, I’m game for it.

Ventoux on the other hand is one of my favourite rides and really looking forward to it tomorrow.

I guess we all have different horribles…

Plus we get 3 new rides for this challenge - can’t wait :santa:

#pedantalert He won that stage at the summit of Alpe d’Huez - the famous descent was part way through the stage off the Col du Galibier. It’s funny what off-road riding does to one’s risk perception…!

I just checked Tom’s Strava trip for that stage (link). Pretty insane stats - not only is that descent pretty mental, racing up the last climb in about forty minutes is incredible!.
(Sep Kuss doing 6W/kg set the fastest Strava time that day, shaving another couple of minutes off Pidcock’s time)

You might want to change the year in the description of Wolfpack: it was 2020 not 2019……

Due soon!
