What the SUF? Update on The Sufferfest App (inc. Android)

Not when we launch. But running will come back into focus after that.

Not allowed to say more, but beta testing is happening, and it all looks awesome!

I hope that the update will allow us to select which drive we want to save training videos to. Those with poor internet connections/ smaller C: drives would appreciate it. Yes, I know a workaround was posted elsewhere but I don’t fancy messing around just to achieve what should be included as a standard function.

Great news Sir David,

As for everyone posting feature requests, etc…let them work on this version!

Like your training, let the Minions build a solid foundation. Any update this far reaching will have lots of moving parts that need to work together.

Once that ships, the Sir David can ensure the Minions move into adding the myriad of tweeks and bolt ons.

+1. My current Mt. Sufferlandria is a running goal. To get there, I’m pairing techniques I learned in the Mental Toughness Program with one of the coaching programs built into my Garmin watch. I would much rather have Grunter coaching me through audio-only workouts while I run outdoors during the Northern Hemisphere’s summertime: “Warmup … easy jog … Z3 pace … Z2 pace … SUFFER! SUFFER! SUFFER!”

Welcome to Sufferlandria

It is actually worse than that. Not only do they study athletes that do not represent the average athlete, most of the studies use a small number of participants. Small numbers in any study allow outliers to dominate the results.

It’s when they say things like “we even made sure the 4 participants represented a spread of gender and age” Like, let’s take this small pool and essentially make it into a collection of even smaller pools

I would like to be able to plan my own training programme. Sometimes I look at the training programmes and then tweak it to fit what I’m up to. But this means listing everything in (I use) Excel and then having to find the workouts each morning. It’s not the end of the world, but would be nice. Thanks

Not feeling sick from the graphics is good, or wondering why the cows still haven’t moved. Maybe that’s just me. :woman_facepalming:t2:

any updates as to when the release of the new app will be???

I think the current plans are excellent within a fixed 12 week timescale with a single end event. But I’m hoping there will be something similar to TrainerRoad’s longer term plan builder, where you can input your target events for the whole season and generate a custom plan around them. At the moment I do this manually with the standard 12 week plans and 3/4 week building blocks, but it’s not ideal when you have several events sitting inside those plans.

Adaptive plans based on your actual performance in workouts would be good too.

Anyway sounds like an exciting update coming along. Can’t wait to see it.

Any news on dates?? Or ballpark estimates, as of yet?

I’ve been talking up SUF to all my racing buddies, and can’t convince them to come over from TR/Zwift because there still isn’t an android app. We all submitted for beta testing, but no luck :man_shrugging:

I’m one of the beta testers. let me assure you things are looking extremely good but it’s sort of like cleaning your bike: once you think you’re done the real work starts, all those little bits and pieces that help make it come out shiney and brilliant

Three months and still now news but “it will be great”, “it is coming” etc., but no dates, no nothing.
Disapointing indeed. Please provide anything, anything link screenshots, timing etc. to at have at least something to look forward to.

Without being able to say much, I’d recommend some patience. For the new platform it is not just a case of adding Android support. As @David.McQuillen.KoS posted a while back they are redoing the whole platform.

The wait will be worthwhile - it’s looking fantastic.

My main question is when i have to think about renewing my membership: only visuals or a ton of new content (and a new android platform)? And this ton of new content are not 30+ new inspirational vids or novids, that’s not the sufferfest for me.
