Not every day. Only every other day.
I’m certainly not doing that shenanigan again.
But once I kick this Covid to the curb I’m sure I’ll be up to some more shenanigans again.

Hey everyone!
Does anyone know if Wahoo is working on an adaptative training AI? If yes, when is it due? I’ve tried Humango to incorporate Systm workouts in an AI generated training plan, but I’m not totally convinced so far, it feels a lot like a beta version and the periodisation is a bit strange.
The questionary they sent also included a question about the importance of adaptative training, which may be a hint.
Otherwise, do you know any other AI program that incorporates Systm workout into their training plan?
This is a shame, I really like the workouts but I feel that Systm “has missed the train” of adaptative training. I’m even considering a switch to the dark side, aka TR…!
Have a nice day!
I don’t know anything about what Wahoo is planning regarding SYSTM, but given their comments in the past about it, and the fact they let go of Neal Henderson over a year ago, and closing their Sports Science department, would indicate they aren’t working on any upgrades to training planning. I also assume that the announced partnership with Humango indicates Wahoo won’t be doing their own work in this area.
My spouse is a triathlete and a triathlon coach. She uses TR for the group ride feature, but I think their adaptive training and FTP estimation to be imperfect–a lot of marketing hype and throwing around the favorite tech buzzword term of “AI” but not necessarily accurate for non-pros. She’s also been an early user of Humango since fall of 2023 and finds it useful, but flawed. It is better from the triathlete’s perspective than the cycling-focused TR, but tends to produce strange things such as putting the same swim workout in the plan over and over.
As a Sufferlandrian myself, I do hope that the announcement of the partnership with Humango indicates that SYSTM is still in Wahoo’s plans for the future in some way.
@pkdaylu Yes - I am sometimes seeing repeated workouts. I suspect it may not have a filter for that. It just looks for a certain workout length, category and probably IF so definitely needs some polishing.
Using https://app.athletica.ai/ since January and find it good, for some of their prescribed workouts I use SYSTM sessions if they are similar. There is another thread here about the AI apps.
LOL - that old school bike tech makes me feel right at home, since I’m still riding my '92 Cannondale R600.
'92!!! Yikes. That’s older than most World Tour riders.
I’m relatively new to Wahoo, coming up on 1 year as a subscriber, but I also appreciate the variety of workout formats. I started with the Sufferfest videos during the winter and absolutely loved them. As much as I love to suffer though, it was also nice to change things up every once in a while with some On Location or A Week With workouts.
But, honestly, I spend most of the year riding outside, where the video and soundtrack content isn’t available and it’s the workout itself that matters. I expect the Sufferfest videos will seem relatively ‘fresh’ when the weather forces me back indoors. Kind of like watching re-runs of a favorite TV show.
A bigger concern for me is that Wahoo eliminated their Sports Science department. Having respected cycling coaches behind the development of the workouts gave me confidence that they will actually improve my fitness and performance on the bike based on Science - rather than the ‘fitness industry flavor of the month’ or some weird AI algorithm.
I don’t know what their process is currently for designing new no-vid workouts, but without a foundation in exercise science and real world experience, they could easily just become an exercise-entertainment company, and I’d start looking elsewhere.
Mac Cassin is still there and is likely overseeing new workouts.
It’s been a dogs age since we’ve heard from Sir @Coach.Mac.C. Would love to hear the latest direct from him
You did all you can do. Has the rest of the family been given their shot? I’m switching to Medicare so it’s time to get them done.
We’ve had every shot and booster since they were available in 2021. We all got our last boosters on Aug 28. Didn’t quite have time to take full effect before I was exposed. But I had all the previous ones.
I’ve been isolating in an Airbnb down the street all this week. Nobody else in my family has gotten sick in the meantime. So looks like I’ve isolated well enough. I’m back home today and still masking and isolating. Now I just need to test negative again. Still have a bit of sinus issues, but my RHR and everything else is feeling better. Hopefully soon.
You have to test negative before you expose to anyone who can be severely affected. It’s not fun, but it’s necessary.
Yep. I’m camping out back until I do.
Keeping son safe.
Thank goodness the weather has cooled off to a nice temp.
He’s sad he doesn’t get to camp in the backyard with me. But he is oddly excited that I can “have a bush wee”.
I’m finally negative and sprung from isolation. Still masking for 48 hours until I get my second negative. Then I can start getting back to normal but still be careful for a few days.
Then hopefully I can get a good week of recovery before I see if I can be KOS-ready by mid-November.
If GvA had a heart, I’m sure there’d be a special place in it for you, Sir Evan @emacdoug! What will this make it now, 6? 7?
Pragmatically speaking, if I were in charge at Wahoo I would currently have all the people with relevant expertise working on merging the 3 apps (Wahoo, Systm and Elemnt) into one. Updates such as the workout player would then follow (or perhaps launch at the same time as the all-in-one app).
Plus one, and an AppleTV app to round it all out!
4th annual, 5th total. But who’s counting…. Other than me and GvA, of course.
I had to push the last one back a couple weeks. We’ll have to see how things go. If I do it then it still needs to be the correct kind of suffering.
No suffering was more correct than however many dozen Defenders you did – what was that, 18 months ago? You are the very model of suffering as far as I’m concerned!
