What's next for Systm?

Nice interactions. I did not know Humango before. I recently tried “The Breakaway” and Xert apps, which like many have interesting data analysis and help with motivation. There was a possibility of a generation of workouts which I found quite insightful and innovative. Given the indoor season is around the corner I am hopeful to see some innovation and interesting announcements otherwise I might give a break and try something else. I hope to hear from @Coach.Mac.C or formal Wahoo annoucements.

I wish Wahoo had bought Xert instead of RGT, and integrated its technology into Systm. But then again, I also wish Wahoo had never abandoned RGT.

I also wish Wahoo had never bought RGT, but for different reasons :frowning:

I feel similar about RGT. Maybe it was an attempt to compete with Zwift, but it was a big expense that didn’t pan out and prevented any significant investment in Systm. I left Zwift and joined Systm for its 4DP workouts, plans, and mainly Sufferfest vids. That’s been more or less stagnant for 3 years now, and I don’t get the sense that that’s going to change.

Just got this in my email today (hidden at the bottom of the email). Looks fascinating and really tempted to try it out. Pretty pricey considering you have two separate subscriptions. A package deal would be awesome.

I hope there’s some reviews appearing before jumping in (I remember there being a very brief discussion of Humango on another thread from a couple of people who used it with mixed views of the AI)

I’m giving the 30-day free trial a go. It immediately gives the impression that it’s aimed more at people who train for specific things (races etc.) as you have to give it an event you’re aiming for. From that perspective, I prefer “manual” Systm straight away as I do a test to see what needs improving then choose a plan which will hit that attribute - my only goal is to get fitter and stronger on the bike. The integration with Systm seems to work though.

The hum go app is ok but it’s got so many things I need to do as work around I gave up on it

I’m not impressed as it stands. When I first set it up I specified the only event I’m sure I’ll sign up for next year as the target of my plan. That’s not until the end of June though, so after it generated my first plan I created an imaginary event on 27th December, then told it to do a replan.

Looking at it in detail, it’s scheduled the same workouts over and over again (e.g. my first rest week is Reveal The Path 3 times!) and, although I can obviously switch these out for similar workouts, that kind of defeats what I thought was some of the object of the presence of AI!

My current Systm plan ends tomorrow so I think I’ll start a new 12-week one next week and leave Humango alone until nearer the end of my trial, at which point I’ll get it to do another replan to see whether the repeat workout issue has been fixed.

That has been an issue for a while. My wife has used Humango for 11 or 12 months and she gets it frequently. She’s not a SYSTM user, but a triathlete and triathlete coach and sees the repeat a lot with swim workouts. On balance she still seems to like Humango, but finds that repeating annoying

Ah, your mention of triathlon has reminded me of another issue - it was using the Split Brick workouts for some of my long base workouts. I hate running and don’t have it selected as one of my sports!

The one advantage of not getting a regular refresh of the workouts is that I actually managed to get the ‘All Inspiration’ badge!

Woah, who knows, I may even do the ProRides now…

I had assumed that the Wahoo treadmill would be out by now and that there would be a number of running videos hitting Systm, but so far, nothing is out yet. I wonder if all programing energy is being put into running, but hoping that there will be energy put back into new SUF biking workouts (we can always hope).

That is the reason I didn’t sign up for the annual… My concern is that the new CEO is trying to become Pelotron and is walking away from developing a serious fitness tool… I may go back to Trainerroad for a back to back comparison…

Sorry to read this, twice. Peloton is a way different beast than Wahoo. I know someone who uses Peloton and they would love to know how they can leverage the 5K in equipment they bought to use it anywhere else.
Also Chip is going to work on stuff for us, but if you came here looking for The Sufferfest it’s long dead. Sadly, I say this as a long term user if The Sufferfest and Wahoo SYSTM.

As Adam Smith once said after a British military defeat, “There is a great deal of ruin in a nation”. Even if Sufferlandria is not what it used to be, it is a long, long, way from being dead.

and it’s our responsibility to keep it alive.

Thanks for sharing, @Heretic. A well written piece, as usual, from the folks at EC.
