I just did it this week and I agree that it’s elevator music. Very poor music choices.
@Gilles.T and Sir @TrapMeSuf the only way for me to register over 200 (I think my max ever was 217) is with my old Garmin Ant+ cadence sensor, and a USB/Ant+ dongle on an extension cable. I question the veracity of the results accuracy but it’s fun to look at post-ride regardless.
My Kickr ‘18 reports up to about 150 then dies and my only other sensor, the wahoo cadence one, does about the same.
As for the tunes in the new Cadence Builds, it wouldn’t have been my choice but I honestly don’t mind it so much and kinda like the jazzy little bit for the builds.
Not a fan of the remastered SUF videos. While the footage is OK the de-SUF’ing of content is, IMO, an abomination and detracts massively from the workouts. I did Joyride last night and found myself laughing out loud at the storyline and commentary. It made a very hard workout fly by - I’m sure Wahoo will dilute that to the bland, boring content they seem to prefer in the hopes they don’t offend anyone. Making the content easier for newcomers to relate to has actually destroyed the workouts IMHO.
Contrast that with my experiences with OL and Inspiration videos where I am bored to tears and feel very unmotivated. Strangely, I find the Pro-Rides fantastic because of the immersive experience.
Looking ahead, I’d love there to be more sports science (unlikely due to the culls) and AI/adaptive training. I’m mainly using TR this winter and I find these features really helpful and the workouts have had a significant impact in a very short space of time.
Did remastered Do As You’re Told and was sad to see the DS guys no longer have PhDs in suffering…much as the company seem to no longer have a sense of humour. Disappointing.
I’ve just read that Trainer Road has entered a partnership with Zwift whereby you can complete TR workouts in Zwift. I think this has the potential to be the default option for the vast majority of people and, to my mind, makes things look very bleak for Systm.
Humbug. I’d rather stick a poker in my eye than do workouts on Zwift. Don’t get me wrong, I like Zwift, I just can’t do workouts there.
I still prefer to do Sufferfest workouts in SYSTM.
But I can see why doing TR workouts in Zwift would be a step up from doing them in TR. Zwift is much easier on the eyes than a blue line.
But still a far cry from the mastery that is The Sufferfest videos.
That is exactly what all of the de-Sufferfesting is all about. Apparently it’s ok to have someone sit at 105% of their FTP @95rpms and be suffering in pain so as long they can’t read about the pain and suffering on screen. I’m still trying to figure out how our beloved KoS 10/10 CoA was offensive.
Hear, hear!!
I see this as analogous to the purchase of IndieVelo by Training Peaks, and seems to be the way to go. From a purely user perspective, this makes the shut down of RGT by Wahoo even more regrettable.
maybe they’ll resurrect it?
I wish. My dream, which is pure fantasy, is that Training Peaks purchase Systm allowing integration with TPV. I’m growing increasingly fearful for the future of our great nation.

The Uncomfortable Have Nothing To Fear
You can do Training Peaks workouts in Rouvy. This is just the industry trend. It is good enough for most people.
But can you do Training Peaks workouts in TPV?
I do not know because TPV crashes my computer when I try to run it.
Yes
Yes, I was being facetious.
Some people (see DC Rainmaker review) have complained about Zwift’s worse trainer control for workouts - but that may just be a matter of time to get addressed.
I’d be surprised if we don’t see a Wahoo integration into Zwift soon too. (Actually, I would not be surprised given how little else is happening, but it would make sense from a customer retention perspective.)
