Yoga and a baby/small child

What I used and loved to do was getting up early and do an early morning yoga session. With a baby, the getting out of bed early-part is definitely not a problem. However the early morning session has become sort a challenge. Still I spend quite some early mornings on the floor playing, cuddling etc. Later I saw some yoga poses one can do with a baby/small child, I wondered if there are some nice (approx. 15 min) videos available as well. Anybody any tips?

Maybe @abicarver has some suggestions for you. She specializes in 15 minute sessions and owns yoga15.com

Hi! Congratulations on your expanding family! While there are currently no specific options on SYSTM- I would recommend trying some of 15 minute SYSTM yoga videos while you are playing with your children on the floor. I know it sounds a bit silly- but this can be a fun multi-tasking event and a way for you all to be together!

Thanks! I’ll give it a try tomorrow morning.

There are also great strength workouts you can do with a little one. When my grandson was in his first year, I did goblet squats, curls with snuggles at the end, and supine leg extensions with him as the weight. When he could sit up, I did back squats with him sitting on my shoulders. Enjoy!!

I found there are stages of what’s possible, and not all babies are the same. I found that before they can move short sessions with them on the floor next to you can be lovely. Then there’s the stage of finding them underneath you during sun salutations. Then you are a climbing frame. That stage lasts a while. Have a look at cosmic kids for the climbing frame stage. Enjoy.

To come back on this one, it was definitely a fun experience ! Although I do have some practicing to do.
The baby-goblet squats are a nice addition to the strength exercises as well!
