You have to completely relax. Loose grip on the handlebars, engage core and almost unweight your legs and feet in the pedals and just let them turn. I’m sure I’m not describing it very well.

Because I’m in ERG mode, the power target is very very low relative to my cadence. That’s why, when I reach 200 and then try to return to 90-100, the flywheel is still spinning like crazy and it takes 5-10 seconds for the resistance to catch up. Until the resistance kicks back in to match the cadence, it feels like I’m free wheeling even though I’m pedaling forward.

I really don’t mind these drills at all. I honestly find them fun and a challenge but I’m essentially a sprinter so tend to do well in very short efforts. I usually give the younguns a run for their money on club ride sprints.

So you basically have to disengage your hips from your body? I think my hip flexors are too tight which might be part of the problem, too. Among other things. :see_no_evil: lol

It kinda feels like that. You are not putting out much power relative to the cadence when in ERG. Imma try this in my easiest gear (34/32) in level mode one day and see how high I can get it.

For context, I think my power target during the build portion is like 190 watts and my current FTP is 229.

Foam roller and stretches will sort that out in a couple of weeks

Ah, would that were so @DameLisa. Would that were so.

Yoga and stretching helps me some. But too many hours at a desk is counter-productive.

My body felt the best when I was training for triathlons. The swimming part helped the most.

Yeah am a desk jockey too. I have a mini foam roller ar work. Leverage it between the desk and my quad …glorious suffering

Saturday ride complete, and a great success! Thanks everyone who came out. It was a lot of fun “riding” with you all. Based on feedback, I will try to keep up the momentum, with the hopes of scheduling regular “Knight Ride” events that I will post here to the forum. (And again - no, you don’t need to be a Knight, just a sufferlandrian at heart).

Group photo, with @Medina81 dragging us around the loop. Seriously. ¡Una bestia!

Lady Keeley I can’t find your @ handle on the forum, but thanks for representing the Dame Brigade this morning!

Didn’t see the Saturday ride, but I was in no condition to ride either.

Nice! Finding a time that works for everyone is always gonna be a challenge. Though I am usually up early each day :older_man: I’m also not even finished 1st breakfast by 8:00 am CST.

Yeah my 9am is a pretty early outing for the left coast, too.

I was up this morning and started riding at 5:30am (pacific time), so 9am ET is actually a perfect time for me on Saturdays.

I wasn’t paying attention so I ended up doing my usual climbing practice. Only realized I was missing an event ride when I got a random thumbs up from Sir @Glen.Coutts.

Next time, Gadget. Next time…

I missed the group ride too, not that I would have made it this week with another commitment, but I might be convinced to get up early next weekend if I know a few days in advance.

Unfortunately I i was not free to joim that Honour Victory Glory ride, but I’m eager to join future ‘Knight Ride’ events and pedal among glorious Knightsof Sufferlandria, with all my Sufferlandrian heart!
Looking forward to be able to fit in some regular sessions with fellow Sufferlandrians. Hope the chosen time works out well for as many as posible!

So my latest idea is to create the Knight Rides in Zwift, with two mirrored events that cover as much of the globe as possible. I will lead one, and either have someone else from the club lead the other, or folks can just sign up for the event to meet and ride. Doesn’t HAVE to have a leader…

That said, would like feedback on what days are best for folks based on your training scheds. I tend to have long effort rides on Saturdays with a Sunday recovery, but I just fit in the ride the other day into my three hours and that worked fine.

So here goes: what day(s) of the week work best w your training schedule for a one(ish) hour, get together social ride. Choose as many as you want, and recognize that if we band it, you can go as hard or easy as you want, so long as you KEEP PEDALING:

  • Monday
  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday
  • Friday
  • Saturday
  • Sunday
