A family that suffers together yada yada yada << insert something inspirational >>
Indeed, Sir @Glen.Coutts , a single, well-aimed seed from a Revolver bullet by a certain Longfellow reminds us:
‘Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time.’
Hail Knights of Sufferlandria!
As promised, our very own immortal engine*, Sir Ruben @Medina81, has set this week’s challenge for us - some speed work this week on the Triple Flat Loops route in Watopia.
A somewhat surprising choice from the king of vertical, but here we are…

Standard rules: we’re a banded ride, so long as you’re pedaling you’re with the pack - work hard or not as you like (or as your training calendar requires ![]()

). You don’t have to be a Knight to ride - all citizens and true Sufferlandrians at heart are welcome!

Mark me down as a definite maybe, probably, possibly, likely not but it’s on my calendar so that’s progress
Hope to see all y’all.
Cap’n Sir Ian @CPT_A, might we have a word…
Sufferlandria is the greatest mythical nation in the whole wide world. There’s nothing fictional about it. LEGENDS all!
Right!
Mythical? Yes.
Legendary? Yes.
Fictional? NOPE!

OH @#$% SIR GLEN! Always watching…

Another great ride with a strong showing (I mean…I’ll take it!) 90 minutes on Triple Flat Loops in Watopia let us stretch our legs this week - after all the recent climbing (looking at you, @Blackwater!)
The usual view whenever Sir Ruben @Medina81 is in the mix, “warming up”…
Sir Andrew @aksibe taking the sprint crown from @Blackwater this week!
group photo
narrator voice: they were not, in fact “there yet”.
Suffice to say I appreciated the company and encouragement this weekend, as I was doing TR intervals in the background. (“Cloudripper”…really?!?)

Sir Andrew’s on the hook for next week’s go, hope to see you there!
More than you…
I had a similar, albeit much shorter and much lower power (given my current “fitness”’) workout myself today with Sir Standsalot @michael.cotty
Yup - very similar. Think your surges looked a little punchier than mine, though.
Right there with you, Sir…
I totally meant to join today. But… still in the midst of random Dr appts with no real answers. Maybe one of these Saturdays I’ll join in for a slow Z1 ride along. Maybe some slow Z1 will do me some good. ![]()
You can absolutely Z1 with us, Sir. Happy to have you! Right there with you this fall, believe me. Getting some harder stuff in this month and the HR is still…concerning.
¡VOUS L’AVEZ DEMANDÉ, VOUS L’OBTENEZ…LE TOUR DE CHEVALIER!

That’s right, by popular demand - and Sir Andrew @aksibe’s request as last weekend’s over-achiever - this Saturday we will be tackling Mt. Ventoux via the Ven-Top route. Le sigh. ![]()
20.9km/13 miles. 1534m/5033ft. 7.3% average gradiant. More. Than. You.

You don’t have to be a Knight to ride - all citizens and true Sufferlandrians at heart are welcome! This week could be a LITTLE tricky, as I normally aim for 90 minutes, but unless we have Sir Ruben @Medina81 pulling us, we’re looking at 2 hours with a 2.5w/kg average. Everyone bring your legs…)
Merde! c’était difficile.
So that was…something. Thanks to all who came out and flew (Sir Ruben @Medina81) and/or struggled (me) up Mt. Ventoux today. Just a shade over two hours to the tower - which I likely won’t see anytime again soon. A brave, stalwart bunch!
Hero of the day - by consensus - was Sir Alan @montgoma, who despite a late start decided to TT all. the. way. up and managed to shave something like 10 MINUTES (
) off his deficit to the peloton. Chapeau Sir!
I will confess doing two hours of intervals in the background was not my best idea, but thanks to the crew, as always, for keeping me going!
Sir Ruben leading us out.
10k to go - almost out of the grass! Sir Ruben still on point.
3k to the tower. Yes, Sir Ruben still out front - not gonna lie, he pretty much lead us through ALL the markers! I swear everybody else worked hard, too!
Another great week folks - even if Ventoux DEFINITELY wouldn’t have been my choice.
Still proud of everyone for coming out. Will post next week as soon as Sir Alan and I work out a route.
Great showing everyone!

Even if I’d have made the start, I still don’t have 2 continuous indoor hours in me. I did cadence builds and a few extra minutes of endurance and that was just about perfect for where I’m at atm. I’m fine with it btw and have retained my membership in the 200+ RPM club.
In recognition for all of his valiant efforts to overcome (tech) adversity and ITT to catch the peloton over the past few rides, Sir Alan @montgoma was honored with selecting this week’s route. So for this week’s Knight Ride we’re back to the mountains with Watopia’s Peak Performance. Joy.

I mean, hey, at least it’s not Ventoux, amiright?

I’ve signed up! See you Saturday…
EXC! See you there. At least we’ll have ONE Canadian join our suffering. (Ahem)
