I believe the intent is to turn them back into some semblance of a SUF style vid eventually™ but wanted to keep the workouts themselves in the library. They’ve got a LOT of work to do but 100% their comms def could be improved.
Is this the one where Marc Madiot is leaning out of the team car and shouting at Thibaut Pinot to GO! GO! GO!!!….?
Yep, they are all gone except Recharger.
@Rupert @mgboehmer what happened to these SUF workouts? They are completely gone from the SUF channel/library. Is this why we now have OL vids that mimic these? Please tell me that the OL vids that mimic these aren’t replacing the SUF vids of these? Marc Madiot hanging out of the team car and yelling at Thibaut Pinot to Go! Go! Go! in There Is No Try along with the music in that interval was classic and the main reason I did that workout! Please say that it isn’t gone

I truly hope that is not the case here.
I wish I believed that they are considering remastering the un-masters they are currently slopping out. Why hire a competent workout/video creator when they have Mike Cotty to toodle around in Wahoo kit? (I love Mike, I’ve done plenty of easier OL rides when I felt pooped out over the last few years) It wouldn’t surprise me that their relationship with EF creates internal friction when other teams’ jerseys are shown in a Wahoo product.
I thought it was great at the beginning of the week when these On Location versions of classic Sufferfest workouts came out. We haven’t had much good news around here for quite a while. But now 3 of the 4 Sufferfest videos have disappeared. Some warning would have been appreciated and an explanation as to whether and when these will return. Wahoo you guys are incredible the way you treat your PAYING customers.
My first thought was “Why are they making OL versions of Sufferfest workouts. Are they going to do away with the SUF versions? Or, (and I liked this thought better) maybe they are just adding a different version of some of the SUF workouts for variety.”
I truly hope that we didn’t just get the answer.
I know there’s a list of SUF vids that won’t be tampered with (at this moment) somewhere in the forum, but I can’t find it. Would you please, kind Sir, point me in the right direction?
lol. Sure thing. I made the list. ![]()
So if for example Butter is replaced by a slightly different Perto de tudons I can no longer compare my development/regression over the years I have been using Sufworkouts. Not so good.
The On Location workouts with Mike are in replacement of the Sufferfest videos, sorry if this was not made clear, Recharger will removed very soon too.
Our plan is to re-introduce Sufferfest versions of these workouts in time starting with Recharger due to its popularity.
Hey all y’all, I hope those in the US had a great holiday weekend. I hope to clear up a bit of this, and add to what Rupert has already said. I apologize for any typos or anything that might be confusing, typing quickly to get this out before my meetings start for the day.
This is right for now, the workout structure is the same as those OG workouts, but like we’ve said a few times now, we want to hear the feedback and learn what we can do when we are able to slow down a bit more and actually determine the long-term road forward. So for right now, the workouts remain but the video will be the Costa Blanca versions.
Given where we are at, we don’t know right now, we are working quickly and this was the best option we had at our disposal, but this type of feedback is really good for us to hear and will help to shape the future.
What silence? We are here, Rupert and I are trying to keep up and respond as much as we can. Best of luck with your training.
We do not, that’s the whole point of the remaster thread and trying to engage here more. I will not apologize for decisions in the past and why we are where we are today, but we are defining our road forward and I’m happy we have some great, engaged community members here to help us in this situation.
We’re trying…
This was one of Rupert’s favorites, I remember him telling me about this after I completed this workout the first time. But sadly it is gone, if we do not have a license we cannot continue to have that content.
We are sorry if there was an implication, nor did we mean to imply, that everything would be 1 for 1 replacements, we can definitely be more clear about the details in the future, but as we’ve said more than a few times now, we are moving fast and plan to revisit everything once we get through this process.
Yeah, time spent here answering the same questions is time we cannot spend doing that too ![]()
You’re welcome to your opinions.
But not random theories, this is not true, that’s not how a video license works, particularly in cycling.
Thanks for the reply, but given that everything about the way this was done, says all feedback given so far has been ignored, I have lost faith that the workouts will be improved, but rather think this is lip service just to keep us onboard as paying customers for a bit longer. What’s more, sending a team out to Spain to record some on location videos isn’t a short term fix for licensing issues, clearly plan and the direction wahoo want to go, which is fine, but I’m out I’m afraid, once my subscription ends next month I’ll be giving another platform a go. It’s a real shame, Sufferfest was a great product.

More
but also, in the context of this thread, I was talking about the original post that made no mention of the removal and only referenced the SUF workout profile counterparts. Could have saved some grief for yourselves by anticipating the reaction to removing the SUF vids by noting that it’s a temporary situation and that at some point soon™ (i.e. eventually) the vids would be reworked and returned to the catalogue.
I know you’re trying. I don’t envy the situation that you’re in, Sir Michael @mgboehmer and, like I have also said many times (
) I’m not going anywhere and realize this is gonna take some time.
That is not who I am, so if I tell you something I promise it’s what I’m striving for. I do not hold the final decisions though, so your concern is not without some merit considering what’s happened, but I guarantee I will give it to you straight with as much detail as I’m comfortable giving.
I think the thing that brought nearly all of us to The Sufferfest was that it was a breath of fresh air to everyone else. On other platforms you can do workouts but there is little or no fun in just looking at numbers on screen while your trying to hit Power, Cadence or Heartrate. Sufferfest was altogether something fresh and different and this is the most important part FUN and INVOLVING you felt like you were chasing Thomas Voeckler, or part of the Time Trial in Igniter or sprinting for the win, any old app can put numbers on a screen. You need something engaging, something that makes you wanti to come back day after day, month after month, year after year and that was The Sufferfest, I’ve tried other apps over the years probably most if not all of them to be honest but there was only 1 I kept renewing year in year out and that was the Sufferfest. Because the workouts were fun, bloody hard but still fun and after doing them you knew you’d had a good workout whether you had completed it or had to turn it down slightly or not. The storyline, music and writing on screen all worked with the videos and workouts to really bring you into that world. That is what we want, that is what keeps The Sufferfest fresh and better than other apps but the quality has to be there otherwise you might as well not bother and just turn them into No Vids. A little communication even if its just a week would be really helpful just to let everyone know if a video is being taken down at least that way it would give a chance for some to get a last ride in of it.
Thanks for the reply and we know that you and Rupert are the good guys. Like you said though. You cannot control what wahoo does.
The On Location workouts with Mike are in replacement of the Sufferfest videos, sorry if this was not made clear, Recharger will removed very soon too.
Noooooo! Recharger is what I show to my friends when I let them try out my Kickr Bike and explain why I like it.
Very depressed to have it confirmed that 4 classic Sufferfest videos have been replaced, at least for the time being, by On Location videos. I went along with the line that Sufferfest Videos were being remastered in a “lack-luster” way (as described by @mgboehmer) due to licensing issues which took Wahoo completely by surprise. But clearly to send Sir Mike off to Spain to redo 4 of these workouts took some planning.
Unfortunately this leaves me with a trust problem as my subscription to Systm is coming up for renewal. On balance I don’t think I will renew at this time, but I may return if indeed credible, quality Sufferfest remastered remasters return to the platform.
Not meant as a personal criticism, apologies if it came across that way. It’s how I perceive the company’s attitude to this, and worry that despite your efforts to listen, wahoo will do what it wants do. I have been in your position before in a big company voicing what the customers are feeding back, only to be ignored. I don’t want to keep paying wahoo whilst they do that. If it turns around then I’ll come back. I hope it does.
