My stage 7 came out to be totally different. After I’ve finished The Model just before deadline my plan was to do Downward Spiral next morning again just before deadline and on Sunday just HT to avoid getting the batch.
Plans are there to fail. I didn’t manage to do DS in time.
Reviewing my options an listening to all the voices in me (legs, heart) and out of me (wife), I decided to replace stage 7 with a 70 km outdoor ride on Sunday.
So officially I also failed stage 7. However, I rode with tempo and headwind for half of the time and for me this was anfair replacement of both, HT and the creemee ride.
I had to slow down in sections:
Well that’s it for me folks, Tour (Suf route) 2024 in the can. I had to split stage 7 across Friday & Sunday due to TWO family birthdays this weekend (can’t believe they arranged those to clash with The Tour). In hindsight I think doing both on the same day at 100% would’ve been all kinds of hell, as although I “enjoyed” HT, the ice cream ride was no trip to the shops, really punchy efforts… Luckily I had to wait at the top of a couple hills for the others to catch up… I now reaaaaaalllllyy want one of those giant ice creams - we had a great ice cream store in town but it shutdown post COVID, so I’ve no idea where else might have something near to what Boz was scoffing. The good thing about the birthdays has been lots of good food, wine & cake so the refuelling is going well. Id better book an appt with Sir Standalot to get Cured tmrw.
Looking forward to the Zwift epilogue on Tuesday evening, not used the Z app since Wahoo announced the RGT closure.
Post ride pint of home made vanilla ice cream with maple syrup was helped kickstart the recovery. Since there was two rides, it was only fair that I followed this with a second pint.
I live as far away from Vermont as one can in the states (Seattle!) and I’m really sad that my ride did not end at the Creemee store. I really want a maple soft serve. Gonna settle for some Ben & Jerry’s… Vermont available in Washington!
Also was 2 days behind on my tour due to some travel but I did it!!
