P.s. If you’re doing this TdS rebel route, drop your pain faces in the thread! Don’t let me be the only one.
I’m not doing anything but resistance training today
…but, perhaps this final 45 seconds of Half is Easy from the 9 Stage 2019 ToS (twas Stage 2 Team Scream + Half is Easy) will help make you feel a teeny bit less lonely in your sufferin’
@Brann_Mac_Finnchad - Uhh… I think what I said was “Yeah sure”:
I did some more research about advanced cycling dynamics. Apparently only some Garmin headunits display them, while Wahoo’s don’t at all:
… and, since I have a Wahoo ELEMNT Roam bike computer and a Garmin Forerunner 265S watch, I can’t view the data in any way.
(I look forward to calling you Sir in due course!) ![]()
Gotcha. That sounds about right, unless you switch (or upgrade your watch someday). But as you posted…L/R balance is the only part which is worth keeping an eye on. The rest are curiosities. That said…I love the split where it will separate power data for when I am out of the saddle.
An epic and beautifully frightening sight indeed. I had considerably more yelling and cursing involved in the last bit today.
Stage 3 of the TdS is DONE!!
I’m not sure what minion thought that AVDP looked a lot like FTP over unders, but they clearly are hoping for a raise.
Then, just for my B-Day, they got me a Tool Shed to rummage through!
Did better with Knighthood Protocols, since I didn’t have connection issues.
Music was nothing special, but randomly started with Death of the God of Light (Rhapsody) in AVDP. Berzerkermode by Feuerschwanze also came up during an appropriate point.
Recovery started at 76hrs and a load of 1336, and went up to 95 and 1747. Didn’t manage to roll it, dangit. Still a Productive training status.
Now off to suffer in a less fun way…at work. But I crushed my timing at least. And have yummy hung su gee for recovery soup.

I don’t know how you’re even walking at this point.
Salut!
Stage Four of The Tour de Sufferlandria (and stage 3 of the official tour) has been smashed. Who Dares (not the de-Suffed version), followed by Rue the Day. I did Rue as alternating in and out of saddle efforts. Video is, of course, that last effort.
I ended up having to go truly nuclear on the last set of intervals on Rue and turned it up to 110%.
Music choices were, respectively, Symphony of War by Orion’s Reign, and Tales from the Kingdom of Fife by Gloryhammer.
Training load from 1503 to 1836; I still haven’t rolled the recovery time–either Garmin gave up or it’s glitching/lagging.

P.s. Sir Glen is lucky I don’t know where my spear is…I think it is /really/ buried.
I see that The Shovel hasn’t made your menu (except the bit from Tool Shed) so maybe you can head down to the SUF mines and dig it out!
Seriously, your crazy TdSuf reminds me of the incredible and unforgettable #nuttrio of Dame Karen, Sir @Aadass and Jose Diaz from the before times.
Did the Shovel on the 11th, leading up to this ![]()
It was nice…I like those types of intervals. With each one you get either easier, or more recovery, and that makes for a nice mental boost.
Stage 5 is complete!! Fuelled by doughnuts stolen from Couchlandrian children (well …they act like children sometimes).
Starting with Recharger then Power Stations to fill the batteries the flogging stations run off of…then using said flogging station because that is The Best Thing in the World.
The first two were no issue at all, of course. Low cadence work–especially when allowed to get out of saddle–is something I am good at. I felt TBTitW though, especially when I unwisely bumped it up by 5% (that didn’t last long).
For music, we had;
1; my SCAdian playlist, as something light. Starting with The Cripple’s Shield Wall (going out to all you older KoS of both Sufferlandria and the SCA).( https://youtu.be/M-p_Btym4vs )
2; Windrose’s Stonehyme album
3; a compilation of Powerwolf
Starting recovery time and load was 51 (yesterday’s never showed…) and 1574, up to 71hrs and 1941. Training status is still “productive”, although it’s telling me to rest, of course.

Amazeballs, @Brann_Mac_Finnchad. Seriously, amazeballs!!
Stage Six completed! The sprinter’s stage… Something I am not. Starting with the Cash Register, moving through Suff Idol, and finishing with Hell Hath No Fury (like a Sufferlandrian trying to make up lost time from the sprint stages). I’m just glad that we’re not facing the Violator or Half is Easy.
Legs are feeling a bit tired, but I did it. Knighthood protocol engaged…I think the short break with yoga between each workout is helping, both with completing workouts, and with recovery. I’ve also upped my protein intake for the week. My weight is holding steady, but I’m looking forwards to reducing sugar a bit next week.
Music choices were my standard Epic fantasy metal playlist, starting with Treasure Quest. For HHNF I switched to Grailknight’s Knightfall album.
51hrs recovery and 1640 training load this morning went up to 92hrs and 2194. Which is weird, since I swear I saw 95hrs on my watch before starting the last workout and got excited that I would roll it over. Still productive, still being told to rest, and Suff Idol was actually labeled as a “Sprint” workout (Cash Register was base?).
Tomorrow is the New Sufferfest Workout! I’m excited!

Not bad, I guess.

Righto… that’s Tour of Suf No:10 in the books!! Got to get an extra donut for that eh!
I think I’ve said plenty on the content of this Tour, but the banter in the forums this year has more than made up for any apathy felt!
Amazing to see the SUF spirit is still strong in here and there seems to be plenty of new faces and voices.
Well done to all the mini, in-game comp winners and for those folks organsing as such… fantastic stuff and what a fundraising effort by all to hit those kind of numbers!
Still cheering on those yet to cross the line!!
Onwards to the next beating.

Stage 7 of the Tour de Nutters not complete. Rollercoaster cracked me thoroughly, and following that with the similar session of 14 Vice Grips did not end well. I broke on the first 2minute interval, continued trying into the next interval and went into a death spiral even while climbing. I think my legs are laying somewhere on the floor in a puddle of sweat and tears.
Rollercoaster --the new Sufferfest video–was not enjoyable. Not only are the targets closer to AC, while allegedly being a MAP workout (I can live with that)–but the slow-motion videos of kids at a theme park was incredibly demotivating, especially with the lack of the signature Sufferfest humour and storyline(I think. I may have missed it from staring at my stem) I also did not have a good morning leading up to the workouts, and I’m sure that did not help.
My current plan is to pick up Vice Grips tomorrow where I left off.
Nothing of interest for music. Just the usual metal.
71 to 96 hours–if I had finished I might have rolled it. And 1868 to 2262.

If you’re gonna blow up during a Tour, you might as well blow up spectacularly!

Thanks for all the enterpainment!
Edit: also, how can we “look away” with such glorious suffering on display?!?!
