Training plan for Sprinter/Sustained

Sprinter - Weakness is Sustained.
What training plans would help me work on my weakness (sustained)?

I’m completing the recommended individual videos (angels, hell hath no fury, and the way out), but like the structure of the training plans too.

Thanks!

The more general plans (like All-Purpose Road, Gran Fondo, Gravel Grinders) will be configured based on your weakness. You don’t have to do anything, it happens automagically. The plans will still target the overall purpose, and will be tailored to your 4DP profile and strength/weaknesses. There is a question in the FAQs about it:

You could also look at the Special Focus -> Building Blocks plans, and select from one of the Base/FTP/Tempo plans. That would probably also target your weakness.

Thank you!

Q: I DON’T SEE THE ABILITY TO CHOOSE A PLAN THAT TARGETS SPECIFIC WEAKNESSES (SPRINTING, SUSTAINED EFFORTS, REPEATED EFFORTS, VO2 EFFORTS) LIKE WITH THE PLANS ON TRAININGPEAKS AND FINAL SURGE. WHAT’S UP?

A: All of the plans that you can apply to your calendar are personalised to your 4DP profile and designed to help you achieve a specific goal or target outcome. The old structure of categorizing plans by primary weakness was a limitation of using third-party training plan providers and unfortunately caused people to choose a plan that wasn’t compatible with their physiology and goals. How you get to your goal depends upon your starting point, which is your unique physiology. Two people with the same goal but a different weakness need different plans. The current in-app plans take your strengths, weakness, and goals into account and adjust the workout schedule accordingly. To prevent someone from choosing an incompatible plan, you can only apply a training plan that is tailored to your 4DP.

I did a 4 week block riding the workouts to address my weakness on alternate days. After the month I was sick of them, but I retested and weakness changed from sustained to Vo2

Thanks for posting. I was thinking of taking this approach too.

I’m in the same boat: sprinter with sustained as a weakness. Was considering the all-purpose but it doesn’t seem to have a lot of ftp work. Maybe the building block approach (base, then tempo, then ftp?). Or either hilly gran fondo or the volcano climbing. Not sure. I want to incorporate some specific ftp work but also have the flexibility to ride with buddies in the weekend.

I went with building blocks - MAP.
If I have any free time I might sprinkle in angels, hell hath no fury, and the way out.

Glad to see you are set with the MAP building blocks Haley. If you ever want to discuss your training with one of our SUFCoaches, don’t hesitate to reach out, we’d love to help
