Understanding the new Wahoo price increase

You can charge me and I will pay b/c I like SYSTM and understand that costs are always upward in a healthy economy. Please just keep and increase Sufferfest workouts.

Thanks!

Can’t imagine how much more of an increase would have been applied if the licence for SUF race footage rights had been renewed. :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Pretty much every single bike computer that can control a trainer already could do this. It’s an utterly pointless addition.
Shortly after getting my first smart trainer, I was creating routes in Italy, Wales (blacked out on that one…they’re hilly!), Germany…riding them, and looking up landmarks I would have gone by. I would watch a movie or something while riding, with the course on my headunit screen.

If they were leveraging google streetview or something, that would be a different matter.

Remember when Wahoo announced Wahoo X: two apps for the price of one?

I do.

Just renewed, and was astonished to see (another) price increase. This might be my last month here.

It was fun, though. Cheers!

Despite the disappointments we had lately and despite getting named wahoo***n I have accepted the offer and have reentered sufferlandria through customs.

I have great understanding for those who decided differently, tho.

For me there is still some SUF content left, which I can enjoy and I’m hoping for careful action on the videos still getting remastered.

To wahoo, I want to point out, that it’s because of SUF I’m subscribing. OL is nice, but also a bit to similar across videos. Maybe I’m a bit fed up of Sir Standalot explaining about olives here and there.

Bolt (and other) had this feature forever, I don’t see how it justifies a price increase.

It’s ironic because Wahoo bought RGT which actually created a real 3D course based on GPX file and you could ride it. It even did houses and terrain fairly good, mimicking local architecture.

Not long after, Wahoo decided to kill this thing entirely. Now they’re “bringing” it back with none of those features while justifying a price increase. Not to mention all the new features listed at the top of this post have all been here already - mental training and 4D metrics.

Thanks as ever to all who contribute to this forum. I’ve sat on the price increase / renew now offer for a bit, read the posts here and had a fiddle with my account.

I was due to expire 26th October so just after the cut off for redeeming the offer. Today I logged on via desktop, checked my account / subscription and have redeemed. For me in the UK it dropped the price to £120 p.a so £10 a month. I’m justifying it as I know I will get more than a tenners value each month through the winter - more so than the membership at the local gym and doing spin classes (which I find are a vector for catching colds and bugs) so I’d rather train indoors on my own with sufferfest to get my cycling fix.

However, I am continually baffled as to why Wahoo have torn apart much of the Sufferfest vibe given the passionate feedback on this forum. Most companies would kill to have such fans and do more to replicate and multiply. I can’t stand the cartoon graphics of Zwift and used to find a quick tilt at ‘The Wretched’ cured any cycling blues. The new remastered versions seem a bit dull and I was furious to see no reference to the flapper, no Tommy Voeckler, no helicopter below the road and the final run into the line paired with footage that doesn’t live up to what went before ‘shut up legs’. Such a shame. At least they kept the nice song at the end.

So for me, its a reluctant renewal, hoping for a vast improvement but worrying that this time next year it might be the end. If anyone from Wahoo is reading, can we try to focus on Sufferfest, can we get more On location (Mallorca (Sa Colobra, Puig/ Formentor) Tenerife - Mt Teide /more in the alps or sierra nevada) these are a good way to train for 60-90 minute climbs which we just don’t have in the UK. I regularly do a tour of an On location ‘pack’ with a few back to back rides kidding myself I’m riding in the sun. I find these mixed with Sufferfest builds me through the winter but I’m wary of going all suf all the time as recovery has a value too.

I have completed the survey thing - these never seem to ask the right questions like ‘do you think wahooligan is a good marketing gimmick - er no.

Here’s hoping feedback gets listened to and things improve.
