Unfortunately for me, as the fine print says on the last screenshot, “If you have a planned workout in the next two days, then no recommendation will be presented.” I pretty much always have a plan loaded year-round, so I guess I’m left out of recommendations. I’m always willing to substitute a workout from say, a monthly challenge, but if I can’t find a recommendation in the first place, that won’t work anymore.
These are two different things. The daily recommended cycling vids won’t show up if you have a plan of any kind, even if it’s a mobility only plan. The row with recommended cycling vids is independent of that but you still need to check “cycling” in your preferences in the Wahoo App or you won’t even see those in SYSTM in the home page.
Clear as mud! Leave it to Wahoo to confuse me thoroughly. The “recommended cycling vids” vs. the “recommended cycling vids.” Lol.
Thanks Sir Glen!
as you know, I’m far from an apologist for The Company, but to be fair to them, the Cycling workouts row, on the home page, isn’t actually called “recommended” vids in the app, it’s just what Rupert called them in this thread. But to be fair to you, Sir, I can see why it would be confusing and, to be fairer to you, it’s kinda weird to to need to use a setting in a different app, in order to see something change in SYSTM.
On the other hand, The Company has used an app of some kind to control their bike computers for quite some time. It’s one of the things that I LOVE about wahoo bike computers (I have a ROAM v2 and an ACE). That I can use a mobile phone app to change things and set things up on my bike computer is sooooo much easier than the Garmin ecosystem I had been stuck in for many years. It just feels odd to need to use a mobile app to control a desktop app on my MacBook so (edit: and, as I re-read this, I think about how I use the mobile Zwift companion app to control things on Zwift on my AppleTV or the mobile TPv Hub app to do things in TP virtual)
I’m a ROAM v2 user myself, and very much like it as well. Though prior to getting that i only used my phone running Ride with GPS and didn’t have a bike computer, so I don’t have the direct experience with Garmin devices to compare (only whatever I got through osmosis from watching my spouse’s successes and failures over the years using a Garmin device).
It very much does appear to me that the company is making incremental progress toward unifying all these things into one app, rather than having the Wahoo app, the SYSTM app and the ELEMNT app. But who knows what the future holds?!
Thanks Rupert for your quick reply. I deleted the systm app and reloaded it but that did not change my homepage.
Sir Glen’s prescription was the cure.
I now have 5 cycling recommendations and will complete them during the month of April.
I’m a badge collector. I use them to motivate me to “suffer.”
Hope to see a badge for May.
Thanks Sir Glen.
That worked. It is weird that one app is needed to change another apps homepage.
I’m guessing that they will merge the two in the future.
You’re most welcome. Always happy to help others to suffer
Any trainer that supports sim mode will work with indoor routes.
Looks like my training can only simulate up to a 10% climb so no Alpe d’Huez for me.
I’ve paid for a guided cycling trip to Italy this coming September that includes the Stelvio among other climbs, but training in Colorado can probably only “simulate” less than 10% climbs, so wish me luck in the Dolomites!
The dolomites are stunning, you’ll have a great time and suffer plenty.
Not who dares!
Well, I’ll get over it, eventually. I do understand how licensing works.
I’d assume that an expired license could be renewed, or renegotiated if The Company really wanted to, or, they could make an agreement to pay a small royalty to the licenser based on how many times the footage is played cuz they’d have that data
This all comes down to money, doesn’t it? I’m really, really, really disappointed with the new Thin Air.
I’m not sure what it costs to renew an expired license but, and this is just a thought I had, why not ask us long time SUFFERS if we would want to help pay for an expired license? Just a thought. This gutting has to stop.
It will stop (forever) when long time subscribers leave the platform and it shuts down.
The ending sprint for Thin Air was one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE VIDEO ENDINGS.
And The Shark turning the screws joke was one of my favorite moments.
So I am absolutely gutted that it changed. The updated ending both in the video and the modified wording lacks all the energy in the original.
I guess it will have to live on in screenshots… but, can’t we at least keep the original wording?
Have been really trying hard not to come here just to moan but doing Thin Air this morning made me sad
The best part of Thin Air for me was when “This Is The Final Act” popped up on the screen, the music hit and then it said “He has sent one of his guppy’s to the front to turn the screws.” Now, we have none of that. Ruined. Just, ruined.
