I didn’t even noticed there was this scene in the video.
Was it in one of these 4 videos one dude said Mike is one heck of a guy who never stops talking on the climbs?

Sir @DarrenWCKam , it’s in the warm up of TS:

Being not (yet?) a Knight, I am completing the workouts across this week. Did The Model yesterday and have Team Scream down for tomorrow. I am thinking of doing the other 2 together on Friday… Any suggestions for which way around I should do them if I choose to do both at once?

As a Sufferlandrian and a Knight the answer to your question is to do it one way, then do it the other way and report back on the experience. Also, when are you planning your Knighthood quest?

My recommendation would be to do Half is Easy as the first ride on Friday, followed by Getting Away with it. Half is Easy is tough enough on its own, so hitting it fairly fresh would allow you to get the benefits from the intervals. I find Getting Away with It fairly tolerable, as it is sub-threshold.

Ahh, Sir Rob @robyork, the voice of reason.

Wise words Sir, and if I am permitted to add, both GAWI and HiE should be done back to back at 100% and a break in between of no more than 10 minutes before doing HiE and GAWI, also at 100% :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :smiling_imp:

Actually I would really think so too. I usually enjoy this ride, but not this time around.

What is the big deal about sufferfest? I did the first one today. It was sooo easy, well half of it….

So Team Scream yesterday was a blast! Loved it. I guess I’ll really find out what I’m made of tomorrow with HIE and GAWI back-to-back…

Perhaps the end of this indoor season… I’m new around here (and to indoor training in general) so haven’t fully tested my mettle yet.

Remember that the Quest is very much a physical and mental marathon than it is a sprint.
My advice would be to do the MTP too besides just the on-the-bike training.

Excellent. Feel free to start up a new thread if you like when you’re ready. There’s a bunch of Knights that lurk in the forums and we’re always happy to help others on planning their quest. There’s plenty o room in the ol castle. I’ll echo what Sir @DarrenWCKam said about the MTP (Mental Training Program), it’s baked into the SYSTM app and I’ll give it credit for helping me to not only become a Knight, but also to pursue some other challenges I’d never before thought possible.

I mean, you COULD sprint it…

Challenge complete. It was a long work at week so I was flagging by the last effort on GAWI, but the low cadence bits were just what I needed to pull through.

I’ve cued up The Downward Spiral for Sunday since a rubbish weather forecast has knocked my outside ride plans on the head. Should I listen to NIN while doing it?

Now why did “Head Like a Hole” pop into my head? Seems like “Mr Self Destruct” should have. :stuck_out_tongue: Tho the Broken EP feels like it might work just as well - depending on how much Closer you want to work to the source material. heh.

I’ve been in and out of Sufferlandria the ~6 weeks and thought I ought to show my dedication with all 4 today. (Thing things we do for a shiny digital badge and the chance of some free swag. The CHANCE.)

I ordered them long to short: TS@100%, TM@100% then turned down to 98%, GAWI@100% then 98%, and HIE@85% from the 3rd interval and I still thought I was going to die. All with <9 minutes break between each ride. I will never, ever, ever storm the castle.

Coach Cook was absolutely unbothered that I smashed a TTT despite being a lowly intern.

She was also entirely unimpressed by how beautiful I look after the Model.

Coach had left the building by the time I hit the Pyrenees so I was all alone in child’s pose at the end of it.

On the floor after 4 hours. Beaten but not yet dead.

You WILL storm the castle but you won’t likely get in if you set your first couple rides at 100%. It’s a marathon/endurance event. Most use intensities ranging from 75-85%. I know I was down near 60 for at least part of the last couple vids.

Like any big event, if you go out too hard, you’re risking blowing up.
