Wahoo X November Challenge - The Sufferfest

Fair point! I wouldn’t try to storm the castle at 100%. The only reason I started at 100% today was because I knew I only had to do 4, and I wanted to see how far I would last at/around 100 (answer: 3 hours), and I was open to turning it down as and when I needed to. But the ‘never ever’ is more that I don’t think I could convince myself it’s worth suffering for that long in my own damn kitchen, regardless of the intensity!

But decals :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:. And accolades…and a nice(ish) certificate…and a code to purchase the Knights kit…and don’t forget the Honour Glory Victory thing.

You make some valid points, I’ll consult with Coach Cook and see …

No offence but I’m guessing Coach is a jerk.

well, she’s a cat, so … :100: (Her full name is Cooking Fat, which is a spoonerism I’m sure you can figure out)

:joy:. Love that!!!

Oh you will! You can definitely storm the castle. In fact, I never thought I would entertain the idea of storming the castle a second time, but since it’s written, it shall be done.

I am planning it 6 months ahead unlike the last time which was about 6 (maybe 7) weeks ahead.

When I first saw the knighthood and saw what in entailed I said I would never ever even consider it.

And then 6 months later I was a knight.

And I knew it was just 1 day of suffering and then I would be a knight forever and never have to do it again.

And now I’m a knight multiple times over.

You can do more than you think you can. It’s 90% mental. You are strong. You are a Sufferlandrian. You can do it. :muscle::goat:

If I‘m ever going to attempt the knighthood, it will be partly because of your luring words, Sir.

Hehe. You wouldn’t be the first I’ve, ummm, encouraged to approach the gates of the castle. There’s plenty o’ room and plenty o’ rooms.

Similar to Sir Evan @emacdoug, back in the before times, before the forums, before The Acquisition, before The Company, there was a web page that had me coveting the OG decals and kit but I NEVER thought it possible. Then, along came the OG Mental Training Program and it became clear that my Mt. Sufferlandria (Big Mountain in today’s parlance :face_vomiting: ) was Knighthood. For me that was back in early 2017 (though I’d been a Sufferlandrian for a year or so prior). And, after a year of careful planning, plotting, spreadsheeting, ride order debates and trades, the stage was set for me and 2 other local (to me) Knights to embark on our quests. Together but alone.

The rest is history. Unlike Sir Evan, Serial Quester this was a one and done for me. My WHY was the decals and a few other things but mostly the decals    I’ve gone on to pursue other crazy things knowing we are capable of sooooo much more than we give ourselves credit for.

I finally completed the November Challenge, doing the four in one day on Saturday. GAWI, followed by The Model, HIE, and Team Scream. Had to reduce to 90% for about 8 of the last 22 over/unders in HIE and for most of Team Scream. (Actually reduced further in 5% increments every 10 minutes for the last 30 mins of Team Scream. That is a hard one!)

I wondered if this easy scene in Half is Easy is Abi Carver (@abicarver) invoking the lava snows high in the Sufferlandrian mountains to melt all over us.

…and here’s me thinking HIE was a no vid

Finally got round to completing the Challenege. All in one hit without any breaks.

I did Team Scream, The Model and Getting Away with it all at 90%. Half is Easy (was rather hard) in the end I had to drop the effort to 65%, those intervals with heavy legs were not pretty. But I made it through and there was lots of suffering!

If anyone made it through all 4 at 100%, then I think a Full Frontal is in order :joy:

Suf challenge completed. Swag-style. A lot of firsts for me. I’ve never done four proper Sufferfest videos back to back before.

Getting away with it. Actually my first Suf-session, two years ago. Made more sense this time around with correct 4DP-numbers.

Half is easy. First time. Had to bump it up to second in the playlist, since I wanted to do it at 100 percent. All good. Except maybe half of it.

The Model. Dialed down to 80. Still not a cruise. At least this way I got to enjoy the beauty product commercial-plot for the first time. Still not a favourite video of mine. Too hectic cross-cutting during intervalls.

Team Scream. 90% at this point felt like 110. Those two final pulls! I had to save myself from the ERG spiral of death using level-mode half-way through the second to last one. Love this session thou.

Some suffies (Suf-selfies?) - sorry for poor mobile handling skills.

The Model. Not me, the video silly! Still feeling kind of alright.

Team Scream cool down. I scream, you scream, Sir Neal screams for ice cream? It’s all a blur.

I can confirm that I Hurt afterwards, and that the surge in the second interval of the second set had me thinking “I Do Not Want This”. As I got Closer to the end, however, I realised that it would be Heresy to even think of quitting.

It surely is and we are surely 90% mental too, if not more.
Similarly, when I first saw the Knighthood challenge in the old webpage, I thought to myself, there is no way I am going to be able to do these 10 rides back-to-back.
Fast forward 1-1/2 years to about 2 years later, I decided to take on this absolutely nutter head on and here I am, a Knight.

Actually both Sir Evan @emacdoug and Sir Glen @Glen.Coutts were the biggest ‘culprits’ for encouraging me for entertaining on this stooopid idea, I(really)SLAGIATT to be honest. But it was also thanks to these two and the other Knights who chimed in, I had a solid plan in place.

I think, @Chris_H you will definitely be able to embark on this quest whenever you’re ready.

I never noticed there was such a scene and that’s likely because I was busy chewing the stem and cursing at the same time.

Well done! If it entices you for a Knighthood, you now have the experience of doing 2 of the not that many Knighthood approved rides. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Team Scream is still one my nemesis that’s for sure, and having done this ride first thing in the morning hasn’t changed my thoughts about it.

Yes, same, the cross-cuts are quite jarring and give me a bit of motion sickness which is not what I really need when barely hanging on for dear life…

I have never seen that scene in Half is Easy? Or maybe I don’t recall seeing it…. Does that mean I have to do it again?

If you have already completed the November challenge, NICE WORK!!

If you still have some workouts to go, keep on going, you still have plenty of time to get the workouts done - as little time as 3hrs 29mins as some have proven
