What's new with the Wahoo app

I am also frustrated by this feature that I cannot get to work.
None of my activities are automatically moving from Strava to wahoo app.

I have uploaded fit files this week from Strava website to wahoo app but I thought it would upload after reauthorizing Strava app in wahoo.

The ‘AI’ doesn’t seem to be accounting for outdoor rides that aren’t structured? I have done rides this week with over .9 IF (races etc) and it is continually telling me that I haven’t done any hard sessions this week. The suggested workouts are all VO2 or AC intervals, has anyone else noticed this? Also is there a way to add a race into the schedule so that it doesn’t suggest a hard session the day before?

Everything I do including GYM workouts shows up on my Systm calendar. Usually, when I get home I Turn on my Wahoo bolt and my phone, pair it to the phone, once recognised I go into history and wait for it to sync the workout/ride whatever. It then shows on the app and Strava and then appears on my calendar.

@Rupert I appeared to have managed to fix it. Rides now automatically syncing from Strava. I re-authorised again, but also noticed that as well wahoo being listed as an authorised in Strava, SYSTM was enabled in the partner intentions settings in Strava. Disabling this seemed to fix it. Posting here as may be useful for others.

Yeah, they all show up. I just found it interesting that hard rides don’t seem to be recognised. The app still recommends hard sessions. I’m wondering what IF/ duration would you have to do?

@Rupert what’s the intelligence behind the recommendation? Cumulative TSS?

Will we ever see a time where 4dp metrics will
change based all workouts tracked?

Yet another example of the ‘intelligence’ of the platform upgrades. I logged on today to this message: Your training is going well, here is an easy ride for recovery and building endurance today.

And the ride was…wait for it…Posterior Chain Focus 02. For some reason I couldn’t find that ride in the cycling library. Did they not even do a quality check to understand the difference between a Cycling workout and a Strength & Mobility workout?

While I applaud the intent, this is simply not ready for prime time.

@Rupert spoke to soon, it’s not working again

Mysteriously, I did have it work once and then it did not the next day. I uploaded the .fit file of a run from Strava and Wahoo did not save the whole run and changed the total ascent.

I think they may have made this release a bit prematurely. Doesn’t seem to be working all that well.

Not particularly getting my hopes up for the long-promised new workout player.

While not perfect, clearly, and for me at least atm, I’ve got a few plans running so don’t get any recommendations anyway, I’m still VERY glad they’re working on something like this.

Hopefully more improvements will come soon for those that want this kind of thing.

It’s at least an indication that they’re not ignoring it. I find that heartening.

I had a bunch of videos downloaded prior to the update. Now they won’t play. For “Neck Mobility B”, I deleted the saved video and it’s now playing. Do I need to delete and re-download any saved videos?

I thought this was interesting in light of the new Wahoo/Strava activity sharing element of the update.

Hey @DarrenM898, welcome to the forums.

Tl;dr; you shouldn’t need to delete and re-download videos (usually).

I think Wahoo is unintentionally confusing people a bit because this thread is about updates to the Wahoo app where it now directs you to the SYSTM app if you’ve got a workout with video in your plan. And, to further muddy the waters, the Home Page for each app is identical :joy: :joy: :man_shrugging: It speaks to Wahoo’s plan (at some point) to merge the two into one but that’s GvA’s guess for when that’ll happen << insert evil laugh >> To make the muddy waters even murkier, the forum itself was originally only about the SYSTM (previously SUF) app and has become the de facto forum for all things Wahoo cuz afaik, Wahoo never had a community forum of it’s own :stuck_out_tongue:

As to the issues you’re facing, at this time, the Wahoo app doesn’t have the capacity to download any videos. But, on SYSTM, where downloads are recommended for the best playback and viewing experience, I’ve personally not had to delete any since the Wahoo app or SYTSTM app updates  .

Sometimes, they’ll make an edit or minor revision to existing workouts and when you go to open one you’ve previously downloaded, you’ll get a message saying a newer one exists.

So, while you shouldn’t have to delete and re-download your saved videos, if you find, like you had, it won’t play, and re-downloading works, then I guess that’s what you’ll have to do. Fwiw, you may consider deleting and reinstalling the app itself if it isn’t working the way it should. I’ve had to do that less than a handful of times over the years. I can’t recall if you lose your downloaded vids when you do that or not but I know you won’t lose any of your personal history or profile data as all of that is stored in their cloud.

Thanks @Glen.Coutts - it’s for the SYSTM app that was recently updated too, but I suspect it may be due to slow internet (~ 50 Mbps down). When I click start workout (on Android), it seems if there isn’t something to play immediately, it throws the playback error. I don’t see it at home where I’ve got ~ 500 Mbps down.

Yep. Sometimes the streaming/download/play thing can seem a bit random :stuck_out_tongue:

Btw, I’m a huge fan of the mobility sessions and am currently on a streak of 143 days in a row.
