Since I hurt my back and am recovering I’ve been really watching my intensity more. So I usually do mostly long Z1/Z2 endurance rides and then 1, maybe 2 intense workouts per week. So it’s been a challenge for me since these rides don’t really fit into my plan.
This week was a recovery week and yesterday I had 2 hours of zone 1/2 scheduled. I did Joyride, Wretched, Amazing Chase, and Open 30 to get my 2 hours and lowered the intensity of the first two severely. Otherwise I’d have never gotten them all in.
Oh Cobbler, it was my first time doing Cobbler on Saturday morning. Thankfully the weather was just fine for me over here.
Then I did both the Amazing Chase as well as the Joyride, oh my word, Joyride was anything but a joyride. Got fooled
I was late to this party and, due various things including work, a ridiculous UK heatwave and going on holiday this Friday I’ve got to do 4 sessions this week to finish. I’ve got Cobbler today which looks awfu… AWESOME! so, if maybe, I can’t wait to do the next interval for instance and decide to skip the recovery a bit, will fast forwarding affect me getting the badge? Obviously, I would not be talking about reducing the interval by fast forwarding! Me? Do that? As if!
Not this girl. What’s that, look over there.
… Or would I be better to just reduce the intensity… of the recovery, obviously, jeez
I’m not sure, but I seem to recall if you FF the workout, it doesn’t “count” if it’s a requirement for some challenge or other. I could certainly be wrong.
And no shame in lowering intensity if you have to. GvA will get his pound of flesh down the road…
I’d suggest you first do it as written, then do it fast forwarding through the recovery intervals, then do it with a reduced intensity (of the recovery intervals only, obvs) and see which one worked the best. Report back on the results.
I did Cobbler the first time last Saturday and I thought it was just fine.
The one which kind of destroys me would be Violator. The last time I did Violator, i felt very, very, violated when I was done.
When I did that one as part of the GG 200 plan the coach’s notes said: Coaches notes: do these 64 max effort sprints seated. Athlete’s notes: go F%$& yourself!!
And see, here’s the joy of Sufferlandria: everyone has their own take. I - for some likely pathological reason - Violator.
Maybe it’s just the raw suffering. No fancy ups-and-downs or variations, like The Shovel or The Model. Just old-school hammering (see also 9H, 14VG, etc.).
Pretty sure Sir @JamesT is Violator’s biggest fan. Though, I swear there was someone who did it 10x in a row! Was it Sir @goggles? Or was that “just” a double dose of it as an extra fundraiser during ToS?
