Multisport Plan

I am currently using systm for my ironman training.

I previously always did 2 session in the one day as a brick, but now I am beginning to think that unless it states brick in the training the sessions are to be split across the day and not done as a brick.

Is my latest understanding correct?

Hi, Brian.

I would interpret the two sessions to be treated as separate, rather than brick—maybe do one in the AM; the other, PM.

As for my own Ironman experience, outside of the first few miles of adjusting to a different sport (swim to bike, bike to run) I found brick sessions to be a fairly unproductive use of (limited) training time. That said, especially if this is your first Ironman, do what you (or your coach) think will provide the optimal training experience for you.

Best wishes on your journey to & through the finish line.

Thanks for the response.

This is my 4th ironman. I have used the wahoo program for every one of them. But always treated the 2 a days as bricks. But just got thinking about it yesterday.

I think for this IM I will treat them as splits (AM & PM) unless it specifically says Brick.

Hi Brian, could you either share or signpost to me to the plan you’re using for IM training? Thanks.

If you just click the plus button up on top of the calendar app on the phone and select these options. I am doing the high volume one.

I have followed it for 3 Ironmans and am pretty happy with it.

Sounds like a great plan. With three under your belt already, you know the drill. Best of luck.
