Thank you Sir James. Now I know what to avoid.
It’s sooo cringey ![]()
I’ve turned off auto renewal of my subscription. Will see if the trend continues or not throughout the year and then decide. My renewal used to be a given but it’s certainly not now.
I did Thin Air today and nearly wept. What an utter dogs dinner that remaster is. No story line, nothing to keep the interest and although the same workout from an effort perspective it’s got no soul or anything to keep the rider engaged.

My renewal used to be a given but it’s certainly not now.[/quote] I dumped my subs a while ago now along with zwift. I now use Rouvy exclusively and will not go back to either. Far more of everything, routes (real footage), plans, workouts, challenges, events etc and far, far better on screen displays, stats and just about everything you will ever need and cheaper to boot
…except 4DP ![]()
…and yoga, and strength & mobility (which I use a lot)
…and some mental training (which I don’t, but probably should
)
another EXCEPT… and it’s a BIG ONE, IMO.
I like ROUVY but it couldn’t hold my commitment enough to subscribe longer than a 2 month 50% off option (for the 2nd time I’ve gone that route.)
The problem?? NO SOUND! NADA.
This is the single biggest thing missing in ROUVY, and which I’ll admit does NOT HAVE TO be there on EVERY ride/workout/activity. But it’s very glaring by its absence if you’ve used WAHOO SYSTM X and come to appreciate all the ways sound adds to the experience.
When MUSIC is well chosen and applied, it’s FANTASTIC. When it’s not as well done, it’s still generally decent and tolerable. Occasionally, it’s a downer.
When AUDIBLE CUES TO CHANGES, whether interval start/stops or cadence target changes or whatever other consistent cues are used correctly, they are a HUGE advantage following a workout. SYSTM X has a distinctly superior feature in this regard, and I missed that greatly in ROUVY, even though I LOVE having REAL ROUTES around the world to ride.
And SYSTM and ROUVY are the same price, both too high if you don’t get an annual or group rate (only ROUVY offers dual/group.) I’m not doing annual again because of the price to value; I won’t opt in to ANY app right now just for a handful of days per month usage. My EDGE 840 controlling the KICKR BIKE with either standard workouts or Virtual Courses of anywhere I want are sufficing when I’m trapped inside. As for Zwift, I’d rather pedal and count sheep than use that nonsense.
Hi, totally agree about Zwifts 1980’s cartoon games graphics, how people just religiously stick with this when there are so many options these days to choose from is beyond me. SYSTM was the first platform I used when I first started bike training when I retired at 65 after getting bored with GCN training videos, in the capable hands of Neil Henderson. It’s what got me fit. made me join my local cycling club and compete in time trials. That was 7 years ago now. Sacking Neal was the start of my declining interest in SYSTM as I felt it had lost its heart and purpose and was becoming just a faceless training platform run by people lacking the experience of Neal. They don’t seem interested in what their customers think and just rework workouts usually to the detriment of the original. Rouvy are always progressing and asking members what they think and what they want from the platform, there are always many worthy updates which just make it even better and YES I HAVE MENTIONED ADDING SOUND AND REAL ROAD FEEL. as in Zwift ( for those trainers that can access it) to rides and workouts. This is something they are looking at apparently. Another factor was cost. I now survive on the state pension and was running all 3 at one point, something had to go. Zwift was a no brainer, SYSTM was a harder decision as it was my original platform and I generally liked it, especially the pro rides but the training plans became a little boring with lack of choice once I had been on the system for 5 days a week and for a few years. So Rouvy finally got my vote, just more of everything, no stupid cartoon graphics, stacks of workouts/ plans, almost limitless routes and events/challenges and the ability to download your own workouts,routes, create your own workouts and brilliant front ends and stats. Yes.. no sound.. at present but. I can live with that TBH. Just to add, I get value for money as 95% of my rides are for taining purpses and indoors so i do get my monies worth
Yes 4DP, the brainchild of Neal. TBH only ever did one Full Frontal and one Half monty to get some baseline stats. After some years of training now I can pretty much tell where I am at regards FTP, MAP, NM etc using other stats and metrics so loosing the ability to do a test to tell me that and coupled with the fact that I am not a pro or an elite athelete needing presise data was not enough to keep with contributing to SYSTM. Probably had I had the finaces to keep both them yes definitely but having had to just afford one platform then Rouvy got my money. I do wonder though whether NH still uses the principles of 4DP in his own coaching platform???
Never used yoga TBH, did use the strength program for a while but just using body weight exercies didnt do it for me. I now do two days at the Gym using weights and specific exercises which will hopefully contribute to more power on the bike plus at my age resistance and weight bearing exercise is something most oldies should be doing

Have to agree with you on pretty much all of that, and I HOPE ROUVY does ADD SOUND and do it well. That’s no small undertaking, I’m sure, since they have SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM, and therefore SO MANY TO potentially modify. In fact, they really don’t need to add sound to EVERY COURSE, but at least to the WORKOUTS, this could be a real net gain. Having to watch the screen during changing targets for intervals is NOT that easy or desirable, but SYSTM X, (when those audible cues are properly placed, which is USUALLY the case) makes that a far more engaging thing and much easier to prepare for the next hard sprint or whatever the case might be. And using apt music throughout can take an otherwise toilsome workout and make it a memorable, exciting, FUN time on the bike, one that you LOOK FORWARD TO DOING AGAIN!
As for ROUVY overall, the biggest thing I can say about them relative to SYSTM X is that ROUVY leadership has the promotional and motivational mentality that exceeds WAHOO ANYTHING by LIGHT YEARS. They do a superb job presenting changes to the platform and directions they hope to go in the future. They actually ARE EXCITED to present their product to you! The guy I’ve seen on the short videos they put out about updates or changes is LEGITIMATELY ENTHUSED to share things with us. If anyone hasn’t checked that out, I highly recommend it. I’ve not seen anything close to that coming from WAHOO, though I’ve only been acquainted with it for the last 4 years, and a subscriber for a little more than half that time.
I’ve said it before and will repeat it again, WAHOO simply doesn’t seem to recognize how uniquely good the KICKR BIKE really is, nor maximize its potential, and the same thing is true for SYSTM (or X) as a platform. The guy from ROUVY would be killing it if he owned and had the opportunity to promote the KICKR BIKE. If ZWIFT has a dangerous competitor, I think it’s ROUVY, and I hope they do grow and survive to take things to next level with great sound development. It’s the biggest thing making me wish SYSTM had a pricing option that I can stomach for partial indoor training. I could AFFORD to pay it, but I simply WILL NOT for limited days indoors. If I trained indoors most of the time, I’d feel differently about the cost, whether for SYSTM X or for ROUVY. Like you, @ozmadman , the “extras” on SYSTM mean little to me; yoga and strength bored me to death what little I tried. I use Dumbbells for light workouts about 3 times a week and my old standby for over 3 years now, Foundation Training Original 12 minutes with Dr Eric Goodman, a YouTube vid workout that keeps my back issues in check amazingly well.
Now just need to make the video interesting and it will be great……
Thanks for a great reply, everyone to their own. Happy training whatever way you do it

@Rupert thank you.
Thank you for removing the W word!
Thank-you

Anyone know why ISLTA is 5 mins shorter post workout? I can’t work out where the 5 mins was cut. Not really an issue, did the workout today, and it’s still a beast; feel like I have been trampled by a herd of sufferlandrian wildebeest. Just curious.
