Training with coach

Hello everybody! I have a naive question regarding the opportunity to get a coach, to help with designing a specific training plan in Wahoo X… If I remember properly we could enrol some coaches from the Wahoo science division… I do not find anymore the option on the website… Do you know if it is still possible or if it went down with Wahoo restructuring?

Thanks in advance

Manu

Hey @Manu, as far as I know, coaching services and customized plans are not currently available. At least they don’t seem to be. It might be worth sending a message directly to support though. For a couple reasons. First, you’ll know for certain, and second, the company will know this is something folks are still interested in.

You can do that here:

Dear @Glen.Coutts ,

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Good idea to contact the minions as I would see value to get coaches familiar with the Sufferf…. euh Wahoo X (Pardon my French)… I would be looking for something more specific than the few general plans currently available and I am surprised they do not try to propose more options (as well as new Sufferfest videos)

Best

To close the topic I raised a ticket and the minions were quick to answer… with a definitive no more coaches or custom plans…

Hey Manu,
Some of us are still working with WahooX subscribers to write customized plans. Even though Wahoo discontinued the coaching , there is still a demand for customized training plans. Message me if you are interested and glad to help you out.

Cheers,

One other thing I can recommend is contacting APEX Coaching. Many of the old coaching staff from Wahoo moved over to them.

I’m curious as to why you’d pay for a coach instead of using the Systm training plans? I don’t mean that in a negative way, but I’m just wondering if the built in plans are missing something?

It’s basically structuring a plan to fit the individuals training schedule/availability and if needed multiple events during the plan. Also the coach can swap out workouts to add variety and or adjust training volume and build/recovery week ratio. It’s really not coaching but creative plan writing to get the most out of a plan.

For many of us here, the standardized training plans do not work.

For example, older riders, of which I am one, often need more recovery than the plans allow for.

For some events there are very specific athletic demands which a more focused plan would help.

Some of us have weaknesses they have to be compensated for. For example, as an older rider I have to do continual NM and MAP work even if it is not needed for an event because of natural declines in those areas.

Because I am inanely busy with life mayhem. Sometimes miss workouts etc. Having a coach means he can fit training around everything else and adapt things as I need, make sure I get enough recovery, take fluctuating hormones into account and build everytbinaround my increasing need to lift heavy sh1t.
He uses some SYSTM workouts and heaps of his own.
