Yeah, I can live with the shame of 2 Belgian waffles with bacon this morning, too!
Thanks, I knew I could cheat the system, but nah, badges honestly mean little to me. The challenges do give me some incentive and direction, though, so when they fit in with my generally outside rides schedule, itās good to try new ones.
Yeah, Iām definitely all about the rides, not the rest, though Iām glad it has value to others. If I get the badge at all, itāll be earned; if not, Iāll likely miss nothing, since I already have a core workout that works!
Iāve got my favorite Foundation Training short workouts that do WONDERS for me, and about them, I could mirror your words exactly. In fact, I hope I NEVER stop doing the Original 12 minutes w Dr Eric Goodmanā¦ until my carcass is in a sealed box. And I watch the video every single time because it keeps the instructions keep me totally focused and in touch with exactly what I need to be activating. Iāve done this video for more than a year and can probably quote Dr Goodman nearly word for wordā¦
The November Challenge is up and I havenāt even finished the October one yet - still of an hour left of October in my timezone! Donāt panic!
You beat me to it! There is still time to complete Octoberās Technique and Drills challenge but for those who want a head start on November, bring on the Sufferfest!
@Rupert.H I just did the Core & Hip Mobility A session.
It FINALLY completed and allowed me to save (the same ongoing issue with finishing workouts and the video freezes, shows the PLAY button, as if I have paused it but I have not, and I have to click the PLAY button seemingly endlessly before it finally will show completed and allow me to Finish Workout and Save it. This is a REAL problem with the SYSTM app, and it isnāt just for me, as others have expressed they have the same issue. Itās been this way for maybe a couple months? Longer?
In any case, my October badge hasnāt renewed as of yet. But I really DID give the Core & Hip a chance again. (Realized Iāve done one similar to it in the past, one of the later letter denominations.)
Done, and just in timeā¦
Post Challenge Report
Elements of Style
Four things:
- A perennial favourite. Love the narration and the exercise. Good choice.
- This mirrored video section to focus on the left leg always does my head inā¦ I know that flipping the original video was 100% cheaper than filming it again from the other side, but stillā¦ makes me feel queasyā¦
- āThink whisky if it helpsā - it does, thank you, Carlton
- āThings are getting difficult, thatās normalā - more deep and reflective musings on life in general from Carlton.
Cadence Drills
I like a no-vid every now and again just to break things up. This time it meant i got my workout instructions from a DJā¦
Itās a hard 'un though, really exposes the weaknesses in each separate legās full rotation. Good like that.
Cadence Builds
Ah, yes, Le Tour de Human Rights, visiting China and Abu Dhabi. To be fair, it is offset by the genuinely inspirational āA Way Forwardā film at the end. I still remember the first time I watched this and was moved to tears and then thinking what a cunning move to sneak this film in at the end of a workout when youāre high on endorphins and everything and everyone is justā¦ wonderful.
Standing Starts
Another surprisingly tough one. Turns out that I canāt do 120 RPM in standing, no matter what.
Core & Hip Mobility A
I really like all the strength and mobility workouts so though this one was new to me, I knew what to expect.
All in all an excellent monthly challenge just for being different to the other onesā¦ See you next timeā¦
Ah. Badge earned and granted. Might have been already before but the November badge took its place as first position and I didnāt notice till later.
Think I missed it. Not a big deal as I routinely do most of these on my outdoor rides.
