@Bazzerro Well said - I am not even sure it was 15 years ago. Maybe 10 depending on when you upgraded your equipment. We have come a long way in terms of training environment but at the end of the day you have to do the work.
we could have Spinervala it worse, CTS. I’ve done both. Please shove bamboo splinters under my finger nails and tie me up with thumb screws. They were AWFUL.
We have come a long way. I remember working out on this:
Guys, this is all very worrying skimming through the threads. So, to sum up, the coaching team has gone from Sufferfest who advise on the training targets in the workouts and the plans. This therefore brings into doubt the longevity of the platform? I know its all speculation, but anyone with anything concrete about the future. I can’t believe the one thing that got me back into training again and training effectively could now be taken away!! Gutted. Sorry I’m late to the table, but that seems to sum it up?
For info, I can’t remember who told me about this, but aren’t the old Sufferfest plans still in Training peaks? I suppose you could still do those on a platform like Zwift, but without the fun entertainment.
My son does his workouts set by his coach on Training Peaks in Zwift, so I suppose this could be an option.
@FatSprinter Some of the team appears to still be with Wahoo and the app still works and they are advertising and selling monthly and yearly subscriptions. Perhaps there will further news at some point but until then I just continue to report to my local flogging station .
Funnily enough I looked at Linkin and Neal’s profile listed him in the past tense for having worked at Wahoo with an end date of September, but Mac Cassin is still listed. I need to get my shit sorted and get back on the plan too. Just need life to slow down a bit. My son is now seriously kicking my ass at only 15 and I’m not ready to just drive him to races, I still want to ride and train with him while I can… I know the Sufferfest plan can turn me around.
@FatSprinter There are always faster athletes. I just try to focus on racing against myself but I agree it is tough to keep focus sometimes.
Man, there are many faster than me, so I have no delusions there, but I actually feel better when I’m on a plan and when I exercise. It is fun keeping up with my boy and training with him, so that is my goal. I like to think I’m not too old yet to still go faster. Sufferfest has me going faster now though than 10 years ago, but 55 is coming up next month
Plus Doc says I need to get my blood pressure down!!
@FatSprinter Whole food plant based diet helps plus regular exercise.
I totally get your point. It is great to be able to ride and do other activities with your family members. I still enjoy doing activities with my adult children. One approach would be to give your son a mountain bike while you ride a road bike. One of my son’s friends is getting on the podium in Cat 3 races. When he visits I will loan him my fat bike (5" tires for beach riding), while I ride my road bike . Seriously, it’s great to stay in shape so you can still do the things you enjoy with your family.
It’s called “paintertainment”.
Not “enterpainment?”
You are correct Sir Evan @emacdoug. The wahoominati remove ½ SUF point from @moose for his grievous error.
That feeling is part of the fun!
That, too.
Good ideas. Shame the wheels today come with sealed bearings. If they were cup and cone I could tighten them up for extra friction. Not sure they do them any more with disk brakes or I’d get some, with some really heavy slow tyres. Hey, thats a good idea, I’ll see what the slowest tyres on on bicyclerollingresistance.com
Can I regain my 1/2 point by staying overnight at the flogging station?
An overnight stay will earn you bonus SUF points, so go right ahead and SUFFER SUFFER SUFFER!
Hey, who knows, with what’s happening with SYSTM/SUF, maybe there’ll be discounts on Knighthood quests and I can do one with only Inspiration videos .
OK, that probably docked me 400 SUF points.
Riding ALL the inspiration videos (currently 67) back-to-back-to-back would be an event in itself and, btw, VERY inspirational!
You wouldn’t be Knighted for it but you’d certainly be lauded!
