By the what, now?
Full Frontal (FF) Changes: *Rider Type, *NM, *AC, MAP, FTP, LTHR
*only changed by Full Frontal
Half Monty (HM) Changes: MAP, FTP, LTHR
4DP Numbers Affects: Power targets inside individual workouts so they match your individual 4DP power profile (NM, AC, MAP, FTP)
Rider Type Affects: Strengths & Weaknesses; Can change individual workouts inside plans that are designed to be adjusted based on Rider Type (*hint: not all plans are designed to be adjusted)
*There are plans that are not affected by your rider type. e.g. Building Block plans, Fitness Test Prep plans.
This is not comprehensive, but hopefully easy to understand.
That’s not entirely true, neither is it completely false. This was the point I was trying to address earlier. HM does adjust part of your athlete profile. Specifically, it will only change the FTP, MAP and cTHR numbers in your 4DP profile. So indirectly it changes your workout settings as well, since the workouts are based on your latest known numbers, for me usually NM/AC from FF and MAP/FTP/cTHR from HM.
But, because HM is only half of a 4DP test, it does not change your rider type, nor your strengths and weaknesses. Those remain the same as your last FF.
Welp, just did a HM. It updated my MAP, FTP, and cTHR in Workout Settings and in my Rider Profile, so the HM FAQ isn’t exactly correct. I’m doing a FF on Sun.
Ummm, I think I said that it would
Edit: good luck with FF, guaranteed fun!
This is what the FAQ said and what prompted me to start this thread:
The only way to update your Rider Profile is to take the Full Frontal Fitness Test. After completing Half Monty, you should see your new MAP, FTP, and LTHR results in your Workout Settings.
Of course I just did the HM and it did make updates to my Rider Profile. And yep, I’ve done the FF successfully before so am looking forward to it this time.
That’s why I said earlier it’s a wording issue. They could tidy it up a bit to clear up the confusion but then where’s the fun in that?
Edit: I can honestly say I have NEVER looked forward to FF
