Will there be more SUF workouts?

It was either that or horrible disease, given the regularity with which he refills water bottles under literally any flowing fluid source

In reply to myself, how spoilt I/we have become. I was reflecting on what I used to do 15/20 years ago. I had an old Tacx fan fly wheel that was so noisy I had to build a shed in the back garden to put it in. My intervals were written on a piece of paper pinned to the shed wall and I had a clock to time the intervals. Favourite one was Triple T which was 53x16 for 45 secs, up a gear to 53x15 for 15 secs then 15 secs recovery. 5 sets of 5.

No vids, not power only pulse and RPE, no funny witty comments, no inspiration from Mike Cotty, no beautiful scenery. No electricity, no nuffin. I had something like Extreme Euphoria mixed by Lisa Lashes banging out on my MP3 player to try and get the motivation (would never normally listen to it but great for training).

Now I have a an Elite Suito which is so quiet I can train on it without my wife hearing in the bedroom above and the vast variety of training sessions in the Wahoo library is awesome. I donā€™t suppose you get all the bells and whistles on trainer road.

Add to that training with the 4DP settings. We have never had it so good. So, I retract my original comment. I donā€™t think any of it will get old as there is so much variety. Beats staring through the glass door of my shed at the back door of my house!!

I would never have thought of going out on my bike for anything less than 2 hours back then. Now I can see the benefit on a 30 min Sufferfest session and I only wish I had had the Systm back then. I was an ok 2nd Cat, but Systm has revolutionised my training. If only Iā€™d had it then!!

@FatSprinter Great perspective! It is nice to have this or that but it comes down to doing the work to achieve your goals and grabbing whatever you can to help you along the way!

Iā€™m only 7 weeks into SUF vids been doing 2 a week plus zone 2 RGT and sometimes 2-3 videos in zone 2 in a session( to beat the films deletion deadlines IE ā€œthereaboutsā€, sometimes 3hrs+), Iā€™m not sure I could ever get bored with them or so familiar with Iā€™m put off doing them, some of them I do however have a nice(!) fear of like The Shovel and Nine Hammersā€¦the only hit and miss is background soundtracks, I imagine itā€™s hard to overlay tunes that appeal to allā€¦and in a month or two Iā€™ll be back on the road mainly( one indoors SUF interval a week planned?)ā€¦ By next autumn/winter Iā€™ll have forgotten the contents of most of them lol

Itā€™s a personal thing I guess. I donā€™t care about immersion when riding in front of my computer. Those ā€œon locationā€ videos only interest me if the power graph looks like a good workout. I turn them on, turn off the music and then launch another video to watch while pedalling.

Same reason Zwift never worked for me. Seeing an avatar ride in a virtual world doesnā€™t change a thing for me. I tried a Zwift race once, same story. I didnā€™t feel as if I was with other people actually riding a race, zero immersion.

The reason I like SUF is because of the silly humor. That keeps me entertained.

Itā€™s the ā€œquick Col Colective Tipā€ from one of his SuF videos . Find a church and youā€™ll find water source . The original ā€œHoly Waterā€ ! Probably why he keeps going back to Pyrenees - go to Lourdes and get tank up a few gallons (liters) at the shrine !
